Arsenal FC could be forced to sell Aaron Ramsey to Juventus immediately, with the Serie A champs offering them Sami Khedira in exchange. Now, though the German international is 31 at present and might not have a really long career left in front of him, the Gunners might need him to sort the Mesut Ozil situation out. If the former Real Madrid man does make the move to the Emirates, it could help Unai Emery link him up with his compatriot like they did at the Bernabeu and sort out one major issue for the Spanish manager.
It was claimed some time ago that the World Cup winner was not needed by Emery and would possibly be sent of loan. However, the player clearly stated that he would not be going on loan anywhere.
Clubs like Manchester United, PSG and Juventus are all keen on adding him to their current squad. It is just up to the player which club he wants to be at and if a decision is made, he could possibly leave north London after a period of more than 5 years.
With that being said, Khedira joining Arsenal could make a huge difference with respect to the play-maker’s decision regarding his future. It can also possibly give Emery a reason to retain the midfielder, who could be the central figure around which the team can be built once again, with the pairing producing some good quality football.
Ozil has not been in the best of form in the current campaign and has been troubled by injuries. Yes, he has looked good in a few games that he has played and can surely produce his magic if utilized correctly, but that has not been the case too often in the big games over the years.
After a decent last season under Arsene Wenger, he has tried to fit into the system that is being employed by Emery. However, it hasn’t really worked out for him so far, though a bit more game-time can surely change that.
Furthermore, the owners of the club will look to take any money that is thrown at them and preponing the deal could see Juve pay Arsenal some cash too.
For that very purpose, the presence of Khedira could be a key factor in finding the right kind of balance in his side. Ozil has not been the happiest player at the Emirates in recent times and the board and higher officials will want to change that.
They will be hoping that the former PSG and Sevilla manager can sort his differences out with the World Cup winner and that the duo combine in order to help the Gunners win more titles. The club brought in Emery to replace Wenger and sort things out, though this has once again been an issue that he needs to work for.
Even if Ozil does leave, it will be better to have Khedira in as an option in the squad. His experience at the top level with various European giants and the German national side, would make him an asset to the team. He can link up well with the likes of Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka and co. and also help the likes of Guendouzi to develop in the long-run. If James Milner can do it Liverpool, why can’t Khedira.
