English Premier League giants Arsenal has received a massive boost in the hunt to sign out of favor Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in the January transfer window. There have been plenty of reports in the news of late which have linked Denis Suarez with a move away from the Camp Nou and Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed that he will enter to make sure the deal goes over the line.
Ever since Unai Emery took over as manager of Arsenal football club back in the summer transfer window from legendary manager Arsene Wenger, he has done quite an admirable job.
Most of the Gunners faithful were sick and tired of Wenger’s old philosophy as the Frenchman’s outdated tactics were not taking the club any further in terms of progress after moving into the new stadium the Emirates. But Emery did make a few big decisions while arriving at the helm at Arsenal as he brought in Lucas Torreira, who has been one of the or arguably the standout players at the club since arriving in the summer. Emery also took Arsenal on a rampaging 22 game unbeaten streak in a short period of time not suffering defeat but have fallen to quite a few humiliating losses just after.
The defeats come at a near perfect time for Arsenal who is prepared to make some signings in the January transfer window to re-enforce their squad. It’s almost confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will be leaving the club either in January or in the summer transfer window and the Welshman’s departure comes as a strange pill to swallow at a time when he is arguably one of their most experienced and influential players. Emery wants new players at the club and Arsenal are now targeting a replacement for the 28-year-old midfielder and are linked with a move for Barcelona star Denis Suarez.
Suarez has spent over two seasons at the Catalonian club but has failed to nail down a starting berth at Barcelona despite impressive performances. In the search for regular game time, Suarez now wants to leave the La Liga outfit and join a club where he can play regular football. The 25-year-old reportedly is interested in joining Arsenal and Barcelona’s club president Josep Maria Bartomeu is willing to negotiate a deal with the Premier League club.
Barcelona is willing to let Suarez leave for a transfer fee of around €10m to €15m but talks over a move to Arsenal hit a stumbling block recently. Therefore, Bartomeu has decided to intervene and ensure that a deal takes place with both parties hoping to benefit from Suarez’ move to Arsenal.
Suarez is a talented midfielder who can play anywhere along the midfield line or even as a second striker but due to the world class superstars at Barcelona, he is not really able to make a name for himself. Emery, however, has worked with Suarez in the past during the duo’s stint at Sevilla in the 2014/15 campaign and can really make things happen if he adds him to his current squad, which could be the main reason why he is eager to bring him to the Emirates.
