The Story So Far-
Come January and Ballon d’ or winner, Luka Modric will have one more club on his list who would be interested in acquiring the services of The Croatian. Modric, 33 has won the Golden Ball at World Cup and Ballon d’or in 2018. The Croatian’s brilliance pulled Croatia till the finals of the World cup 2018 only to see France win it. However, Modric’s club season has had a downward graph as Solari’s men slumped to yet another defeat against relegation battlers Real Sociedad.
Reports on summer said, Perez wanted to re build his ageing squad and has already started his efforts towards re building it. Madrid already bought Vincius Jr., Mariano Diaz in the summer and sealed a move for City’s youth player Brahmin Diaz in a winter move. Modric, 33 felt his age is slowing him down and would like to move to some other place in a less challenging role. As it is said, Inter Milan and free agents have been a long lost love story with the Italian club roping up the services of Naingolan, Miranda as free agents.
The Serie A side attempted to sign the current Ballon d’Or holder last summer, yet their bid was rejected. Reports in Italy claim as The Nerrazuri’s are preparing for a second bid in the winter.
Juventus have joined Serie A rivals Inter in the battle to try and price Luka Modric away from Real Madrid. The Croatian has always expressed his praise for ex teammate Cristiano Ronaldo who is at the front line at The Old Lady. If an opportunity is presented, it would be hard for the World cup finalist to refuse playing with Ronaldo again. Modric has the contract expiring in 2020. There are no signs of renewal with the Real and the deadline so close it makes Modric’s exit more desirable. Juventus pursuit of Modric has surprised Inter and Marotta who in the past few weeks had tried to understand the margins to bring the Croatian midfielder to Italy after the summers last summer.
In A “Real” Spot Of Bother-
Los Blancos are struggling to find any sort of form past the Zidane era and though Santiago Solari has had some luck at times and wasn’t as poor as his predecessor initially, things aren’t just the same.
From winning the Champions League three consecutive times, to being a team that might end up in the Europa League in the upcoming campaign, things are just not going right for the Madrid based side. They will be hoping to put in some money in the summer transfer window and bring in the right manager, who can then sign some big names for the team.
They are in real need of some reinforcements and if an ageing Modric is allowed to leave, the club needs to first sign a few new talents prior to that. Their squad already has a lot of positional voids at present and losing another experienced star like the Croatian international will be a loss that they can bear at the moment.
