According to the latest reports, Premier League outfit Manchester United are ready to go to battle along with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window. The English teenager has been setting the Bundesliga on fire with his incredible performances week in and week out and the Red Devils are willing to pay a transfer fee in excess of £100m for Sancho.
There has been a massive turnaround in fortunes at Manchester United at the moment as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken over the club in December. The Norwegian was appointed as caretaker of Manchester United after the club officials and board was tired of Jose Mourinho’s dire football with no results. The ‘Special One’ seemed to have lost interest most of the club’s targets and his stubbornness caused plenty of rifts between players and even the club board. United’s fierce rivals Liverpool hammered the final nail in Mourinho’s coffin as Manchester United manager after a 3-1 defeat at Anfield. With poor football and negative results, Manchester United decided to part ways with Mourinho stale tactics and his antics. The club then turned to a familiar face, one that donned the United jersey in the and brought plenty of smiles in the past, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, to stabilize the ship at Old Trafford until the end of the season at least and Solskjaer has worked his charm once again, this time as a manager.
Since taking the reins at Manchester United, the 46-year-old Solskjaer has lost just one game in 16 across all competitions and brought a positive air around the club. And most of these results have been because Manchester United are playing positive football, something that the English giants are linked with on a regular basis. The United boss is a strong contender to make the job a permanent one in the summer as Solskjaer became the only Manchester United manager to win his first eight away games across all competitions. These impressive results have also got United up and running for a Champions League berth, something that seemed unlikely under Mourinho’s reign.
With Solskjaer almost certain to be given the job permanently, he is now prepared to make another splash in the summer and spend big on recruiting star attacker Jadon Sancho in the summer from Borussia Dortmund. The 18-year-old superstar has scored nine goals this season and racked up 10 assists helping Lucien Favre’s side to the summit of the German League table. His growth in stature and as a footballer is something that plenty of youngsters will admire and Sancho only seems to be growing from strength to strength.
Sancho joined Dortmund for a mere £10m from Manchester City back in the summer of 2017 but now his value has multiplied 10 times and United have to spend over£100 million, which is more than what they paid for Paul Pogba when they signed the Frenchman from Juventus. The only team that has beaten Manchester United are Paris Saint Germain and the Ligue 1 champions are also interested in Sancho.
Dortmund is adamant that Sancho is not for sale anytime soon with his contract expiring in 2022 but how much can they resist the European continental heavyweights.?
