Gareth Bale’s agent has lashed out against the Real Madrid after his client was subject to constant abuses and boos by a particular section of the Bernabeu crowd, as the Los Blancos again succumbed to another El Clasico defeat in the La Liga. His agent rebutted the fans by saying that they should be ashamed of themselves.
Bale was evidently subject to a lot of jeers from the home fans when he was substituted in the 61-st minute as the Los Blancos were trailing to the first half goal by Ivan Rakitic. Bale has often been subjected to criticism regarding his performances and also about his fitness by the fans and also by media which only adds to the Welshman’s frustrations in difficult periods and this time he was defended by his agent, Jonathan Barnett.
“This generation of Real fans will be talking about Gareth’s goals for years to come,” Barnett said in a conversation with Sky Sports.”Frankly, they should be ashamed of themselves. Gareth deserves the greatest of respect. The way Real fans have treated him is nothing short of a disgrace.
“In the six years he has been in Spain, he has won everything. He’s one of the best players in the world. Those fans should be kissing his feet.”
Bale’s client also showed light to his client’s future at the club and shakes all the rumours of him leaving Real Madrid as ‘fake stories’.
The Welshman’s inability to speak the language has also been criticised and clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and his former club Tottenham Hotspurs are all linked for a potential summer transfer move.
Barnett, though, added: “Despite what the Spanish press are reporting, he’s happy, he speaks reasonable Spanish and there is no problem between him and the rest of the Real players. The people writing these things know nothing about him.
“There has not been one single discussion about Gareth leaving Madrid. He isn’t going anywhere this summer. Despite what’s been reported, he’s content, he wants to stay at Real and they want him.”
The 29-year old is known for his world-class goals in finales for the Los Blancos and one of those goals was the overhead kick against Liverpool in last season’s Champions League final. it was his fourth Champions League title having scored a crucial goal in 2014 and the also a decisive penalty in their 2016 finale shootout.
But injuries have not been kind to him, just when he looks good and gets back to his best form he generally gets sidelined with something or the other. It has hindered his progress as a football, who was once destined to become a world beater, someone who was considered to be close to the modern-day greats, Messi and Ronaldo. He has had his fair share of issues in adjusting to the Spanish culture, lifestyle and the language and that makes him like an outsider in the Los Blancos squad.
Brazil international and Real Madrid vice-captain, Marcelo clears the confusion in his recent remark as he said that the former Spurs winger still does not speak Spanish properly and the two barely talk despite sitting next to each other inside the dressing room. Further, the former Tottenham man has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and a Spurs’ return for quite some time.
However, in recent times there were suggestions that Arsenal could possibly look to sign him as well. This transfer saga just keeps better and better now and only time will tell where he ends up next season.
