Breaking: Liverpool Legend Could Be In Trouble If Rumours Are True

According to the latest reports, former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard has stated that he could get the boot from his Rangers club if he does not bring in the right personnel in the summer transfer window. The ex-England international has admitted that he is still the right man for the job but he needs to buck up and find leaders within his squad.

Steven Gerrard was once the heartbeat of Liverpool football club just a few seasons ago but his retirement back in the summer of 2015 brought the end to one of England and Liverpool’s most talismanic figures of the modern era. The 38-year-old spent his whole playing career at Anfield and most noticeably helped the Merseyside club to win their fifth Champions League crown back in 2005.

In 17 seasons with Liverpool, Gerrard won two FA Cups, Three League Cups, One Champions League title, One UEFA Super Cup, One FA Community Shield, and one UEFA Cup as well. However, Gerrard never managed to get his hands on the elusive Premier League trophy and finished as runner up on three occasions. The Englishman then joined MLS club LA Galaxy back in 2015 on a one and a half year deal before finally hanging his boots in 2016.

In January 2017 Gerrard announced that he would be taking up the job to coach the U-18’s at Liverpool. In April 2018, Gerrard took a step forward in his managerial career and took the job at Scottish Premier League club Rangers FC. However, his club isn’t faring too well at the moment as they lost out twice to Aberdeen in Glasgow to get knocked out of both the cup competitions.

Inconsistent form in the League has also seen Rangers slip up and open an eight-point lead at the top of the table for leaders Celtic since January. But Gerrard walked into a club that was in quite a mess and he still admits that he wants to turn it around but will have to be brutal with his assessment on his current players.

Gerrard spoke to reports in quite an honest interview and said, “If I do not win the next three or four things that are available, maybe I will not be here. I am aware of that. We need more leaders. We need more people who can manage games better. And we need more quality. So there are quite a few big areas that I need to address moving forward. But the reality is that is where Rangers are at the moment. We are capable of a fantastic performance, a performance where I can walk into a press conference and wax lyrical about us across the board. That seduces you into thinking Rangers are back to where they should be, that we are nearly there and that we’re close. But I have taken over a team and a club that has been going through a lot of pain, that has been quite toxic. It needs a lot of change on and off the pitch and we have done everything we can to try to improve things. We need a bit more time to continue moving it forward to improve it.”
