According to Southampton superstar Oriol Romeu, Liverpool striker Sadio Mane is now ready to make a move to the Los Blancos in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Reds’ forward has been absolutely sublime since the turn of the year and those impressive performances have caught the eye of Real Madrid.
Since Portuguese talisman Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus in a £100m transfer deal, there has been a massive void at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 34-year-old ace left Real Madrid as the clubs all-time top goal scorer scoring 450 times across nine seasons since making his move from English club Manchester United. The Spanish giants are desperate to find a suitable replacement for Ronaldo after he left and they have a few targets in mind.
Liverpool is having one of their best seasons ever since the club was formed back in 1892 as they currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, two points ahead of 2nd placed Manchester City. Although Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City still have a game in hand, Jurgen Klopp’s side has done incredibly well to remain in the title race for this long and it looks like the title decider will go down to the wire and the final game of the season. One player who has been absolutely incredible for Liverpool this year has been Sadio Mane as the star winger is racking up the goals at the most crucial time of the season, keeping his team in the hunt for the Premier League title.
The 26-year-old Mane has now scored nine goals in his last nine games to keep Liverpool’s momentum while his other teammates have been struggling to find the back of the net on a regular basis. Mane also single-handedly helped Liverpool past Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 of the Champions League as the Merseyside club booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Mane’s performances have been nothing short of world class off late and he is showing the world his true potential. But this has now attracted interest from Real Madrid and the La Liga giants could plan a swoop for the in-form forward.
Mane’s ex-teammate Oriol Romeu has also stated that the Liverpool frontman could now be ready for a big move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The duo played 30 games together for the Saints before Liverpool picked up Mane for a £35m in 2016. The Spaniard told Marca, “He is ready, Madrid is a little weak in attack and he is the type of player that does a lot of damage in open spaces. He could help them reverse their current situation. He brings variation in attack, but he is not a prolific goalscorer like Cristiano Ronaldo, who goes well above [other forwards]. What I would highlight, above all, is his speed. He is a very electric and dizzying player. He has exceptional physical and technical qualities. At Liverpool, he is grown a lot. This season, he is enjoying his best season in front of goal. I think he’s acquired calmness and composure when finishing moves, either scoring or assisting. That is key.”
Having signed a new contract with Liverpool earlier this season, it’s unlikely that Mane should make a move away from Anfield but a big money move and fame could tempt the African superstar.
