According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Liverpool have made the first inquiry to sign Fiorentina superstar Federico Chiesa in the upcoming summer transfer window. Jurgen Klopp still wants a replacement for departed star Philippe Coutinho and is still on the lookout to fill that void with Chisea, who has caught the eye of the German boss.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side are enjoying one of their best seasons ever in the Premier League since the club formed back in 1892. The Reds are just one point behind leaders Manchester City with four games remaining until the end of the season. Liverpool have done exceedingly well to push Pep Guardiola’s side to a fight until the end, especially after Manchester City stormed their way to the Premier League title last season, breaking multiple records and amassing a staggering 100 points in the process. Liverpool have also made it to the Champions League semi-finals and will face La Liga table-toppers Barcelona across two crunch legs in the competition.
However, since the departure of Philippe Coutinho back in the January transfer window in 2018, Liverpool have struggled to fill the void left by the Brazilian star. The 26-year-old winger linked the play for the attackers and was a key member in Liverpool’s central midfield but left for Barcelona in a £142m deal last January transfer window. Naby Keita has not been able to offer anything close to what Coutinho used to and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain’s injury woes have also not helped the Reds.
Chiesa to Anfield?
The Merseyside club did not find it easy to breakdown the meanest of defences that used to sit back and absorb the pressure as Liverpool did not have a player who would pick out those key passes in the attacking third. But Klopp wants to look into the summer transfer window to find such a player and he is admiring Fiorentina superstar Federica Chisea.
Chisea is generally deployed on the flanks for the Italian club but can also be used as a second striker or an attacking midfielder. His creative ability allows him to spray accurate passes into the attackers and his numbers improve with every passing season. 21-year-old Chiesa has scored 12 goals and notched up four assists in 34 appearances for Fiorentina this season, making him a target for a few top clubs on the European continent.

Latest reports claim that Italian champions Juventus are keen on securing Chiesa’s services in the summer transfer window but Liverpool have made an inquiry to lure the Italian star to Anfield in the summer. Chiesa has 11 caps for his national team and has the experience of playing top level football and some rumors claim that he could be used as a backup option for Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
Chisea is valued at a transfer fee of around €70m and he has a contract with Fiorentina that expires in 2022. He is wanted by London based clubs Chelsea and Tottenham as well, who will not make things easy for the Merseyside outfit to sign him. Should Liverpool make a bid for the Italian sensation?
