Spurs Demand £40m For This Superstar, As Manchester United Look Keen To Sign (Not Alderweireld)

According to the latest reports, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have named their price for right-back Kieran Trippier amid interest from rivals Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on reinforcements in the summer transfer window and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now opened up on his plans.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did wonders when he was initially appointed as caretaker of Manchester United back in December. The Norwegian took over the reins from Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, who left the club in a shambles and dire straits. But Solskjaer took charge and strung together a run of positive results in the Premier League and pushed Manchester United into the hunt for a top-four berth. The red half of Manchester also made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in dramatic fashion after beating Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain, turning around a 2-0 deficit at Old Trafford and winning 3-1 at the Parc Des Princes. It handed Solskjaer the job on a permanent basis but the charm seems to have disappeared over the past few games.

United went crashing out of the Champions League after a 4-0 aggregate drubbing against La Liga giants Barcelona over two legs in the quarterfinals and suffered a heavy loss against Everton on Sunday, denting their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season. There is no doubt that United will need reinforcements in the summer transfer window with new signings if Solskjaer wants to bring the club back to its glory days and compete for silverware.

One area that Manchester United are struggling in is their defensive department. Ashley Young has come under heavy scrutiny over the past few months with even the Manchester United fans wanting him out of the club and therefore United need to sign a new right back. The Red Devils are monitoring Tottenham Hotspur’s Kieran Trippier in the summer as the Englishman’s impressive outings for the north London side have caught the eye. Trippier was a key part of England’s World Cup 2018 campaign and has been quite a solid figure for Spurs since joining the club four years ago.

Tottenham have stated that Trippier will leave the club only if an offer of £40m or more is a bid and United will be keeping close tabs on the 28-year-old’s situation.

Solskjaer spoke to reporters and confirmed that the club will make signings in the summer, “We have got scouts scouring the planet for good footballers and we will sign players we think are the right fit – personality wise, price wise, quality wise and I am confident we will get the players. I have been speaking to the club and we know that we have to be realistic and have a job to be done there is no quick fix. It is not like buying seven players and we are in the right shape, we have to take it step by step and there will be signings made but there also has to be thoughts about players, ‘Sit down, have a pre-season, I can not wait for it to come. There will be some additions, the players have got to come back and know what is expected of them, take ownership of that while on holiday and it will be great to see who is coming back’.”
