Ajax Amsterdam have taken the world of football by a storm having displayed some breathtaking football under Eric ten Hag this season, both domestically and in Europe. They’ve made some big scalps in Europe having drawn Bayern Munich over both legs in the group stages and then victories over Real Madrid and Juventus in the knockout stages have brought them into the biggest stages of lime-light. It’s expected that a lot of their players are attracting interest from across Europe with deep lying midfielder Frenkie de Jong already sealing a move to FC Barcelona next season.
One of the mainstays of the Ajax attack, Hakim Ziyech is one of the biggest reasons of the success Ajax have got this season. According to a report by Daily Mirror, the Moroccan international could be on his way out to the Premier League next season with multiple clubs in the race to get his signature. His £25m valuation makes him a very attractive signing as Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly trying sign him for the next season. Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also reportedly keeping close tabs on the play-maker.
Ziyech has been one of the players who’s been on the rise since joining Ajax from FC Twente in summer 2016 having been an integral part of the squad which went to the Europa League finals in that season. His 19 goals and 20 assists in 43 appearances for Ajax this season has made him a wanted man in the transfer market circuit.
Both Manchester United and Arsenal are in desperate need of wide players and left footed right winger always adds up a different dimension to the attack and this makes him a special one to watch on the field. Ziyech is flexible enough to cover all 3 positions behind the striker and can also play a deeper role as a play-maker in the midfield which makes him all the more a wanted man. Unai Emery has shortage of options and has been forced to field players out of positions and this has costed him at times this season and will be looking forward to bolster that department when the summer transfer window opens. United’s current winger are also left wing predominant which makes Ziyech an automatic choice as there are chances of an upheaval at Old Trafford this summer.
Liverpool could be using him as a replacement in case Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah leave the club. Even if they stay, Ziyech’s signing will give them a solid addition to the bench which will help Liverpool in the long run of their hectic campaigns.
City are looking at him as a potential replacement for Ilkay Gundogan as the German international could leave the club in summer while Bayern Munich are eyeing him as a replacement for the outgoing Arjen Robben. Pacy, technically adept, loves to dribble, Hakim Ziyech will be hard to hold on to for Ajax. Time will be telling where he will end up eventually. One thing’s for sure, his transfer saga will be an interesting one, one worth following.
