According to the latest reports, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hit out on the reports claiming that he would leave the Merseyside club at the end of the summer in order to take up the Juventus job. The German manager has guided Liverpool to the Champions League title and the Old Lady are in dire need to get their hands on the European trophy.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has had an incredible season despite finishing 2nd on the Premier League table. The Reds recorded their best ever season in England’s top flight division recording a staggering 97 points but still finished only one point behind leaders Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side smashed plenty of records last season when they stormed their way to the Premier League title obtaining a stunning 100 points in the process. But Liverpool ensured that this season’s title run would go right down to the last day of the season, pushing City to the end and not giving up on their fight.
However, Liverpool made history by winning the Champions League final against North London side Tottenham Hotspur. It was the sixth European Cup that will be placed at the trophy cabinet in Anfield and it was much deserved for the way Klopp had set up his team this season. It was the first time that Klopp won a Champions League title and the charismatic manager has drawn attention to the other major clubs in the European continent.
Massimiliano Allegri announced that he will be stepping down as Juventus coach and the Italian champions need to find a suitable replacement for the man who led them to five consecutive domestic doubles. There were plenty of candidates in line to replace the 51-year-old Allegri including Antonio Cote, current Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and even Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino. These four big names are the competitors along with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who is reportedly at the top of Juventus’ wish list.
Rumors of a £32m release clause deal in the German’s contract put the Reds faithful under immense tension but Klopp has rubbished any talks of a possible move away from Anfield. In a recent talk with Sky Italia, Klopp revealed that all the talks of a move to Juventus are “bullshit”.
“Of course it is a league that I like, it is really exciting, but all these rumors I hear about Juventus are bull****. There is nothing true about it. I am not going to leave Liverpool. I know Serie A very well, I follow it and I like it but I am going to stay at Liverpool.”
Klopp went on to praise Liverpool’s attitude and mentality for reaching two Champions League finals in a row and then having the ability to win the prized trophy this season, “I have never been part of a final with a better team. I am not surprised [Liverpool is in the Champions League final] because the boys are how we call it, a mix of potential and attitude in the best way I ever witnessed. That is just brilliant, exceptional, and that brought us where we are.”
