Liverpool Star Will ‘Definitely Stay’, Fans Given Positive Update

According to the latest reports, Liverpool superstar Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed that he is keen to remain at Anfield for the next few seasons despite interest from several other suitors on the European continent. The magical dwarf did not really manage a lot of football towards the end of the season but made a significant contribution to achieving success with the Premier League club this term.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool enjoyed a superb season in the Premier League this term but still finished in second place in the table behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The Blue half of Manchester successfully defended their title and became the first team to achieve the feat since Manchester United back in 2009.

Last season, Manchester City stormed their way to the title as they amassed 100 points in the process to achieve a record breaking feat. But this term, Liverpool ensured that the fight for the Premiership will go down to the last day of the season and City face a few nerves on their way to glory. Liverpool finished just one solitary point behind Manchester City on 97 points but they did taste success in Europe when they lifted the Champions League to Madrid after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final.

Liverpool brought home continental glory for the sixth time in their illustrious career and with the summer transfer window approaching, there are a few players that have been linked with a move away from Merseyside. Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge have already been confirmed to leave the club this summer but there could be more players that leave the club.

Xherdan Shaqiri was purchased from relegated side Stoke City in the summer for a mere transfer fee of £13m and was considered the bargain of the season as he contributed six goals and five assists in 24 appearances across all competitions. The Swiss star has the ability and potential to play for a big club but with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and even Alex Oxlade Chamberlain in the ranks, there is stiff competition for a starting berth at Liverpool. It was a golden period of the season when Shaqiri was carrying Liverpool and keeping them ticking but his influence waned out towards the latter part of the season.

There have been exit rumours which have claimed that West Ham United are looking to take Shaqiri to the London Stadium in the summer but the Liverpool man has come clean about his future admitting his love for the Champions League winners.

While speaking to Goal on Tuesday, the 27-year-old winger said that he wants to win the Premier League at the club, “I am at Liverpool FC, the best club in Europe. The manager has many good options and has to decide who can play. I knew before my transfer that the competition here is very tough. I have a long-term contract and I definitely will stay. This club needs to win titles,” he continued. “And it is a good start to win this one, no? Now next year we are going to go again and try to win the Premier League. That is my big dream, to win the Premier League with this club.”
