Arsenal are looking for a replacement of Welsh superstar Aaron Ramsey in the market. The midfielder decided not to extend his contract at the Emirates which is due to expire this month. He signed a pre-season deal with Italian giants Juventus few months back in mega financial deal as a free agent. The transfer market is not going to be an easy place for Arsenal this summer given the lack of funds they have to spend this time around. With the lack of Champions League qualification, it’s going to be even more difficult to bring top stars who are attracting interest from Champions League sides. However Arsenal must keep working on their targets.
Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout is Unai Emery’s target to replace Aaron Ramsey in the middle of the park. The Frenchman has also garnered interest from Napoli who are believed to be front-runners in the signature for the player. He was widely believed to be joining Napoli. However, Arsenal’s interest along with the likes of Sevilla and Roma has apparently delayed the move. Given the interest of so many clubs, Fiorentina are expected to start a bidding war for the player to get the maximum amount of funds through the sale of their midfield brain.
The 26 year old is contracted to Fiorentina till 2021 and is looking to leave the club this summer, as it has been confirmed by the recent reports that are coming in. A Nantes youth product, he moved to Aston Villa in 2015 where he could not find his feet. He went on for a loan spell at Saint Etienne before joining Fiorentina in 2017 for €7m.
Jordan Veretout is just the type of midfielder Emery needs in his midfield to replace the outgoing Aaron Ramsey. He is a good passer of the ball and does the quick transition of play from defense to attack with ease. He loves to control the game from the centre of the park by setting the tempo of passes.
With the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira being a bit more defensive In nature, Jordan Veretout will be the offensive force in the midfield which will give him loads of opportunities to flourish. A player with immense tenacity and brilliant work-rate, he is a tireless runner on the field which will give Arsenal a much needed energy in their squad. There’ll be doubts over his previous Aston Villa flop spell, however, the player this much is much more matured and has a lot more experience under his belt and will deal with the circumstances better.
The North London outfit should definitely try to get his signature this summer as he can be one of the best possible options in the price range the Gunners can invest right now. With the presence of countrymen like Laurient Koscielny, Matteo Guendouzi and Alexandre Lacazette, it can become a major factor in Veretout choosing his next club. However, the transfer saga regarding the Frenchman is not going to be an easy one.
