Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is relishing his job at Manchester United but the Norweigian tactician will be hoping that the Red Devils make more signings this season before the summer transfer window comes to an end. Currently, the former Molde manager is excited to unleash his young pacy player who have joined the signed this season. One of them being Swansea City winger Daniel James.
Manchester United also signed young right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for a £50m deal. Both the deals comes as a move for bringing in reinforcements and injecting young blood into the squad, which failed to qualify for the Champions League last season after sacking Jose Mourinho and taking a gamble with former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However things will only get tougher for the Norweigian tactician in the upcoming season and with players like Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba unsettled at Old Trafford, Solskjaer will very well need to press the panic button and bring in reinforcements in those areas.
Solskjaer has been vocal with his stance with Ed Woodward and has submitted the players he would like at Old Trafford for the next season. Woodward have failed to complete any of the deal and with transfer window on verge of closing soon, it will be difficult for the Red Devils if any of their top players leave from here with Real Madrid and Juventus looking keen to land Manchester United ace midfielder Paul Pogba this summer.
However, the Manchester United boss has been pretty impressed with the way the new players have adapted and especially with Daniel James’ fiery pace in training. Solskjaer believes that a frontline of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James will spread fear for the opposition defenders. The Norwegian also revealed that the right-back Wan-Bissaka is also at par with his new team-mate.
He said, “Is anyone faster than James? Maybe Wan-Bissaka! The two of them do have top, top speed. Modern football is stop-start, it is go again, speed, tempo, quality, so those two have put their marker down. Of course, with our boys, we have got some quick ones. It does not matter if they are English, Norwegian, French, Brazilians, you just want good players, good people, quality and speed, of course, is a big thing in football nowadays.”
“The more X factors you have in a team, the better you are. Any player who plays against, say, Rashford, Martial, Dan James, with the pace they have got, I think you are worried that they can hurt you – even if they have an off day.”
Manchester United are still linked with Sporting CP and Portugal international midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle United youngster Sean Longstaff. Along with Leicester City centre-back, Harry Maguire who is Solskjaer’s top target to make amends to the shaky back-line which made the Red Devils suffer last season.
However, with things boiling up to the last few weeks of the summer transfer window, the Red Devils need to buckle up and at least strengthen their back-line bring in reinforcements. Also, they need more players in midfield to make things happen and release the pressure from the French World Cup winner Paul Pogba, if he decides to stay at Old Trafford fending off interest from Real Madrid and Juventus.
