Match Preview: Leicester City Vs Liverpool; As Reds Look To Extend Top Of The Table Lead

Leicester City vs Liverpool: Leicester will face Liverpool on Boxing Day at King Power Stadium. It will be the clash between two top sides of the Premier League. However, the gap of points between these two sides are currently 10. Leicester City have to win the match at any cost to stay in the Championship race. Liverpool are at the top of the League table with 49 points in 17 matches so far. On the other hand, Leicester City are just behind them with 39 points in 18 matches.

So, the importance of the match is certainly huge. Liverpool missed the previous game-week in the Premier League as they had to play in the Club World Cup at the same time. Liverpool also won the Club World Cup this time with a win against Flamengo at the extra time. They won UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in the same calendar year. Now they will certainly target to win Premier League in the next season.

Leicester City was defeated by Manchester City in the previous match at Etihad Stadium. So, the Foxes will certainly be eyeing to make a comeback into winning ways from the next match. On the other hand, the congested fixtures will certainly not help Leicester City in this festive period of Christmas and New year as their squad depth is not much like other big clubs.

The manager of the Foxes, Brendan Rodgers told that he would have to rest Jamie Vardy at least in one match out of the next four matches. So, it would be difficult for Leicester City to cope without Jamie Vardy. James Maddison is also not getting adequate rest in this congested schedule. So, it is certainly affecting his gameplay. It will be very much interesting to see how Leicester City cope up with the situation.

Team News (Leicester City vs Liverpool):

Leicester City:

The manager of Leicester City, Brendan Rodgers will not have to think about any injury issues ahead of this match. However, he will certainly have to rotate few of his players in this match to keep themselves fit against West Ham United in the next match. Jonny Evans might get rest and Ben Chilwell might be replaced with Christian Fuchs in the starting lineup.

Liverpool:

Liverpool are coming back from Qatar. After winning the Club World Cup, the players must be tired. The Reds will miss Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for a few months now as he picked up a bad knock in the Club World Cup. So, Jürgen Klopp will have to think about his midfield options for the next few matches. Mohamed Salah is also continuously playing for Liverpool. He might get a rest in one of the next few games. Andrew Roberson, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander Arnold will also be rotated in this time period.

Predicted Starting Eleven:

Leicester City: (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper: Kasper Schmeichel

Defenders: Christian Fuchs, Wes Morgan, Caglar Soyuncu, Ricardo Pereira.

Midfielders: Wilfried Ndidi, Youri Tielemans; Demirai Gray, James Maddison, Ayoze Perez.
