When Arsenal Beat Everton; The Fighting Spirit That The Gunners Need To Replicate More Often

Arsenal

The Gunners edged past Everton at the Emirates quite recently. Arsenal beat Everton by a margin of 3-2, which was a huge boost for Mikel Arteta. It was his former club (as a player) and the test was tough against Carlo Ancelotti’s side. The veteran manager’s side was slowly building momentum and the game wasn’t going to be easy.

With that being said, here are the talking points for the match-

1. Early Lead Given By Dominic Calvert-Lewin:

Dominic Calvert-Lewin provided Everton with the early lead in the first minute of the match. The set-piece movement has worked quite well for Everton at the beginning of the match. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s overhead kick has given Everton the lead in this match. David Luiz tried to stop the attempt at goal but his attempts to stop the shot completely failed.

2. Everton’s Defense Is A Big Concern:

The defensive unit of Everton had not been performing well recently. The attacking display has quite improved after the managerial change. Edward Nketiah got an easy opportunity to score and he has utilised that quite well. Bukayo Saka had gotten free space at the left-back position. Djibril Sidibe had not been in his line most of the time throughout the whole match.

The manager of Everton, Carlo Ancelotti did not include Seamus Coleman in the starting lineup of the Toffees against the Gunners. Carlo Ancelotti should go back with his three centre-back system where he will be able to use Dijril Sidibe and Lucas Digne as two wingbacks. The attacking display of these defenders is more effective than their defensive abilities. The most suitable formation for Everton will now be 3-5-2. The Toffees missed the service of Lucas Digne in this match because of an injury.

3. Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang Has Proved His Worth:

The star Gabonese centre forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang proved his worth in the match against Everton. He was the main reason why Arsenal beat Everton. The star centre-forward has provided the lead at the 33rd minute for the first time in the match. At the beginning of the second half, the Gabonese centre forward has given Arsenal the lead for the second time in the match.
Nicolas Pepe has provided a beautiful cross towards Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The brilliant header of Aubamyeang has gone straight into the goal. Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang has scored 17 goals in 25 matches so far in the Premier League. The race of Golden Boot is certainly on fire after the brace of Aubamyeang against Everton on Sunday.

4. Top Four Dreams Still Alive For The Gunners?

Arsenal is currently situated at ninth place in the League table with 37 points in 27 matches so far. On the other hand, on the fourth-placed side, Chelsea has collected 44 points in the same number of matches. So, the point difference between these two clubs is now seven. Still, 11 matches are left in the Premier League this season.
It might not be a very difficult task for the Gunners to finish at fifth place at the end of this season. Manchester City is banned to join in any competition of UEFA in the next two seasons. So, the fifth-placed side might get the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season. The Gunners will certainly be eyeing to take up the opportunity in the next season.
