Update on Chelsea’s injury list-I t has been an up and down season for Chelsea. Frank Lampard’s did exceptionally well in the beginning but as games kept coming fast, their inconsistency began to pop up which is hardly a surprise. When Frank Lampard took charge in the summer with Chelsea being hit by a two-window transfer ban and their star player Eden Hazard having also left in the summer, a top-four finish was probably an ambitious goal but the Blues are still in the top-four with a five-point cushion separating them from fifth-placed Manchester United. The Blues recorded a comfortable 3-0 Premier League win over Burnley but lost 1-0 to Newcastle. Newcastle has a pretty good record of upsetting the Blues over the years and Lampard’s side could not beat the Magpies.
Frank Lampard and his squad had a full week to prepare encounter though it did not make a huge difference. However, with the outbreak of virus taking over and new young talents being signed, let us take a look at the injury table of the west London club-
Chelsea’s injury list-
Matteo Kovacic:
One of the key figures for the Blues in midfield this season, Kovacic has been a great signing. He has been doing a lot of running in the current term and eventually got injured. However, his injury was not really long-term and he is expected to return to full fitness soon too.
Tammy Abraham:
The main goal-scorer for the Londoners in the current season. Tammy has been in and out of the team with short-term injuries. His current injury is an ankle/foot injury and he should be back to the team in a week or so. With the season currently halted, if it does indeed resume, the young Englishman could be back into the first team immediately.
Christian Pulisic :
The USA international Christian Pulisic missed Chelsea’s routine 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round because of an unspecified injury sustained in training. There is still no news about the type or severity of the injury but Lampard has confirmed that Chelsea will be without the speedster for a few weeks.
“Christian Pulisic is out and he will be out for a few weeks,” he said.
“He was injured in training last Friday, that was the Saturday before Nottingham Forest. That is an injury in adductor. So he has a tendon injury. It is disappointing for us and we will have to see how quickly he recovers because it is quite a nasty injury. “
Callum Hudson-Odoi:
The England international has not really been getting a lot of playing time this term. He has been in and out of the team. At present, he has a thigh injury and is expected to return in the first week of April. Whether that actually happens or not, remains to be seen.
Marco van Ginkel :
The Dutch midfielder is a long term absentee, as he continues his rehabilitation following an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Ngolo Kante :
Kante has been struggling with fitness issues this season and missed the Burnley game with a hamstring injury. As of now, there is no update on the status of the French midfield dynamo.
