Tottenham Hotspur are going to give Mourinho a £135m transfer kitty in the summer while Harry Kane might leave soon. Mourinho took over the management of Spurs after the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino in the midway of the season. Last year’s Champions League runners-up are having a poor season this term and they are in the eighth position in the Premier League table just one point above of their North London rivals Arsenal.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly unhappy with the winter signings and the Spurs board wants to hand him a £135m transfer budget in the summer to rebuild the squad. Record signing Tanguy Ndombele has been a flop so far after his £50m summer move from Lyon.
The 23-year-old French midfielder has only started 12 times in the Premier League and has failed to make an impression. Mourinho has criticized him for taking it too long to adopt in English football. Arsenal Legend and French World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit also agreed with Mourinho about the criticism of the player.
“Is he overweight? He looks a little bit. But his body language does not help him. He needs to improve physically.” – Petit told The Sun.
“He has quality but I agree with Mourinho in that Ndombele could do much more.”
“When he is very motivated, fit and ready, with his mind and body, and when he has the ambition to perform well, he becomes a top player.”
However, Ndombele can make a switch to La Liga after Spanish giants Barcelona is linked with the player for a summer transfer.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is believed to release funds for new signings with RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer is a primary target who was instrumental for RB Leipzig to knock Tottenham out of the Champions League this season recently. Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, Nice right-back Youcef Atal and Norwich left-back Jamal Lewis, Real Madrid defender Eder Militao are some of the targets of Jose Mourinho to reshape Spurs ahead of a crucial next season.
Meanwhile, former England striker and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer suggested Harry Kane should leave Tottenham if he wants to win trophies in his career. Spurs are not known for winning silverware regularly and at this peak stage of his career, Kane should be looking to win things.
“If he does not win anything in the next 12 months then he has to leave. He will do another year, I think, and if nothing comes in terms of trophies, then he will be off.”
Spurs are worrying about their star who has been injured in the last few weeks of this campaign. They want to cash in while the value of Kane is high in the market.
Jose Mourinho has won trophies at every club he managed so far in his career and he wants to do the same at Tottenham Hotspur. His former club Manchester United too had a good second season under the Portuguese, prior to the third in which he was sacked.
He had one of the best times of his career in London when he managed Chelsea, after guiding them to three Premier League titles. He further won many more major honours in England over his two spells at Stamford Bridge.
