Arsenal Priced Out Of The Race To Sign This Tottenham Transfer Target

Arsenal has reportedly joined rivals Tottenham Hotspurs in the race to sign Norwich full-back, Max Aarons. The Gunners have shown their interest in the Norwich City graduate. However, they are unwilling to pay £30m, the amount which the Canaries have slapped on their defender. It has not been rosy for Norwich City this season. In all likeliness, Daniel Farke’s team will slip down to the EFL Championship next season. Despite all the misery, Max Aarons has been one of the shining lights for the Canaries this season.

The 20-year old is certain to leave the club if they eventually get relegated and Tottenham Hotspurs are currently in pole position to sign the youngster and now with Arsenal rising up the interest, it will be an interesting summer for Aarons.

What Does Arsenal Really Want Now?

Aarons would be a great signing for Spurs' - Bent sees Norwich ...

According to reports on Goal, Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta is very impressed with the Norwich City youth academy graduate. The Spaniard is keen to lure the English defender to the Emirates this summer. However, Spurs’ superior financial situation gives them a huge edge over their city rivals in acquiring the talented fullback as Arsenal are on a tight budget in this transfer window.

The Gunners have been affected badly by the Coronavirus pandemic and therefore manager Mikel Arteta will head on to the transfer window with limited resources at hand. Norwich is also reluctant to leave their best player this season for anything less than £30 million mainly due to the fact that he signed a five-year contract only last summer with the Canaries. The asking fee for the England U-21 International may have priced out Arsenalfrom making any other move for the player.

As an alternative to Max Aarons, Mikel Arteta will look to focus on youth prospect Jordi Osei-Tutu. The 21-year old English right-back is on loan at German 2nd division side, VfL Bochum and Arteta is keen to bring him back for next season as the Spaniard believes that he can give tough competition to Hector Bellerin for the right-back.

Who Will Sign This Defensive Star?

However, it will be interesting to see whether Tottenham Hotspurs fulfils the asking price. They might not even manage to strike a middle ground for the 20-year old fullback. With manager Jose Mourinho desperate to bring in another fullback option mainly with the likes of Ben Davies and Serge Aurier struggling to make their mark, Spurs may very well have to splash the cash on Max Aarons.

Aarons joined the Norwich City’s youth setup back in 2009 from Luton Town. Fast-forwarding to 2019-20 the 20-year old has made 27 appearances in the Premier League this season before the hiatus. The 20-year old has also featured seven times in England U-19 and five times for the England U-21. If he keeps up the good work he can make a breakthrough to the Three Lions national team very soon.

With that said, Aarons will play a huge role in helping his team gather some points. It will help them get out of the relegation zone. The Premier League is set to restart on June 17. The Canaries are rock bottom on the points table and one of the favourites to slip down this season.
