Manchester United Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Makes Clear Demand Post Sevilla Loss

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer demanded the Board to be active in the transfer market after losing against Sevilla in the Europa League semifinal. Manchester United have lost three semifinals in this season and it is quite certain that the club is lacking something to edge past the opponent in the final stage. In the semifinal against Sevilla, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not used any substitution till 87th minute of the match. It clearly signifies that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not any faith in his bench players.

Manchester United have made three big signings in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils have brought in Daniel James from Swansea City. They have also brought in Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace and Harry Maguire joined the Red Devils from Leicester City. These two defensive reinforcements have worked for Manchester United in most part of the season. However, Daniel James has not been able to cope up in the Premier League coming from Championship. The manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given enough chances to Daniel James at the beginning of the season to prove himself. However, he has not been able to create any major impact on the game.

The Story So Far About Transfers

On the other hand, Manchester United have brought in their long term transfer target Bruno Fernandes from the Portuguese club Sporting CP in the winter transfer window. After the inclusion of Bruno Fernandes in the squad, Manchester United have looked a much better side in the field. After the resumption of play post lockdown period, Manchester United have stayed unbeaten in the Premier League. The combination of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes has worked well in the midfield.

However, they faced a defeat against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final. Again in that match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s strategy was under scrutiny. He took a much defensive approach in that game which didn’t work. Manchester United finished at the third position of the League table of the Premier League in terms of goal difference.

What Next For Manchester United?

Manchester United’s club management have tried to seal the deal of Jadon Sancho in this summer transfer window. However, Borussia Dortmund’s asking price has been £120m. The club management of the Red Devils is not ready to meet the asking price of Borussia Dortmund. So, to pressurize the club management of the Red Devils, Borussia Dortmund has announced that Jadon Sancho is not for sale. Many news outlets have reported that the deal will not take place in this summer transfer window.

The Red Devils’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is an admirer of Sancho. He wants the young English winger in his team next season. United’s rivals are very much active in the transfer window. So, without reinforcements, Manchester United will not be able to compete with them in the next season. The Manchester-based side may have a good starting eleven as of now. However, with such a thin squad it will be tough for the Red Devils to play in the Champions League. So, the time has come for Ed Woodward to sign few star players to regain the glory days of Manchester United.
