Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that Suresh Raina will not return to the United Arab Emirates this season to play for the franchise. According to the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, the decision had been taken by Suresh Raina to go back to India due to personal reasons. He added that the franchise will respect his decision and give him the space that he needs.
What Kasi Viswanathan Said?
“See, we cannot look at Raina because he made himself unavailable and we respect his decision and his space. We are not thinking about it.”
Chennai Super Kings are not looking good so far in this season. They are struggling to make their mark with the absence of a few key players. Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo are three important members of the squad of Chennai Super Kings. However, these three players are currently unavailable for the franchise. As a result of it, the performance graph of Chennai Super Kings is on the lower side this season.
Chennai Super Kings have won their first match of the season against Mumbai Indians. Ambati Rayudu has played an important knock in that match. However, the player has picked up an injury and missed the next two matches for the franchise. This has been quite awful for Chennai Super Kings as they have completely lost the balance of the squad after his exclusion. In the top order, they have been missing the service of Suresh Raina who used to play the role of setting the pace of the innings for Chennai Super Kings.
Both openers of Chennai Super Kings are struggling to give them a solid start. As a result of it, the pressure is piling up on the middle order. Faf Du Plessis is trying his best, but the collective effort is lacking from the other players. There are questions over Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s form. The captain of Chennai Super Kings is not able to chase the run successfully for the last two matches. The approach of his run chase is also under scrutiny. Dhoni has clarified that he is not in his best form and that’s why he is looking a bit of rusty. He needs some game time to get back into the business.
What The CSK CEO Went On To Add?
“We have been blessed with some of the best fans in the cricketing world and I can assure them that we will bounce back strongly. It is a game and you have your good days and bad days. But the boys know what they need to do and the smiles will be back.”
He went on to add on Ambati Rayudu, As I told you last day (before the Delhi Capitals game), he would miss one game at worst. He is fit and ready for the next game.”
The spinners are not being able to take wickets in the middle overs for Chennai Super Kings. It has been another problem for Mahendra Singh Dhoni. They have always relied on the spinners to play a crucial part in their journey. There will certainly be a few changes in the squad from the next match. Chennai Super Kings will get a break of one week now. They will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on 2nd October. According to the team management, Ambati Rayudu will be fit by that time. With the inclusion of Ambati Rayudu, Chennai will find a balance in their squad and they might try a few new options. The break is going to be really important for Chennai Super Kings to settle the things.
The Chennai Super Kings’ CEO has told their fans to keep faith in their side as they will surely bounce back from this position. Keeping their past record in mind, it will be very early to rule Chennai Super Kings out of the playoff race by now.
