The Jofra Archer Story- Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals faced each other in the 50th match of IPL 2020. Both the teams are fighting for a spot in the playoffs in the few matches remaining of the group stage. While KXIP were in a much suitable position on the table, RR needed a win to keep their hopes alive and they successfully did so. In spite of a powerful knock by Chris Gayle of KXIP, RR managed to chase the target of 186 runs, pretty easily.
The Story Of The Game Between the Kings XI Punjab and the Rajasthan Royals
RR won the toss and decided to bowl first. They got quite a great start as they managed to send off Mandeep Singh for a duck. But then the partnership between Chris Gayle and KL Rahul wrought havoc on the RR side. The KXIP skipper is in the best form of his life and scored a decent 46(41) in this match as well. Chris Gayle though went on to play a destructive innings of 99(63), missing his century by just one run.
There was quite a lot of unrest on the field regarding Chris Gayle’s dismissal. The Universe Boss threw his bat in frustration as Jofra Archer bowled him out. This was acceptable as The West Indian was batting on 99.
The Tweet By Jofra Archer That Went Viral
Once again, Twitteratti sent this previous Tweet by Jofra Archer viral, “I know if I was bowling I know he was not getting da 100.”

His tweet got great engagement. The English bowler is known for his humorous tweets. Some call him overconfident but probably he just tweeted it for having a good laugh.
Coming back to the game, KXIP managed to score 185/4 in their 20 overs. Coming on to bat, Rajasthan Royals never really seemed to be in a problem chasing. They got a great start, thanks to the partnership between Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa. Ben Stokes, in his last game, had scored with so much ease. Today was no different. With an explosive knock of 50(26), he pretty much built the momentum of the team. After the opening partnership broke, Sanju Samson took the responsibility. His much needed 48(25) took RR closer to their win. Finally, Smith and Buttler’s partnership sealed the match for the Rajasthan side.
What Next For The Two Teams In IPL 2020; Who Will Go Through To The Playoffs Now?
RR’s win made the table even more interesting. KXIP, RR and KKR all have 12 points currently having played six matches. SRH on the other hand, have 10 points having played a match less. KXIP are currently at no. 4 in the table as they have a better Net Run Rate. If SRH wins their next match against RCB, they will have 12 points as well. Thus they might overtake KXIP.
Only Mumbai Indians have qualified for the playoffs till now and anything can happen. Seems like there is lot more drama left in this season of IPL.
