Kerala started their Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy with a win and a couple of viral videos doing rounds on social media. Earlier it was only Sreesanth’s first wicket in eight years that people were found talking about, but in a video recently gone viral, Sanju Samson is seen talking to Sachin Baby about a bowler he doesn’t like and would take on for a six.
Well, the Kerala skipper delivered the very next delivery. The fans went drooling listening to the conversation captures on the stump mic. The video, as always caught the attention of Social Media and the fanbase. This is nothing new these days and happens a lot.
The Sanju Samson Video That Went Viral
Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth’s return to cricket after a spot-fixing induced seven-year ban was the highlight of the Mushtaq Ali Trophy Twenty20 cricket match between Kerala and Puducherry. It was only the second over of the innings that the World Cup-winning player cleaned Fabid Ahmed. What a way to claim his comeback wicket.
In the 11th over of the second innings with a 139 run target to chase, Sanju Samson first asked Sachin Baby, who was standing at the non – strikers end, “Let me give you one”. “Did you not see Jada show up …”
The very next ball he launched a big hit right through mid-off, making a point?

Twitterati saw Sanju Samson’s dialogue trend as the skipper delivered what he said. Samson was Kerala’s top run-scorer, getting a well-paced 32 against his name in the opening fixture. Jalaj Saxena took three wickets for 13 runs in four overs as Kerala won by six wickets.
Samson and company started off the proceedings dominating since ball one. They got quick wickets in intervals to hold off the opposition from scoring a big total. Restricted Pondicherry to 138, which at the Wankhede was never going to be enough. When S Sreesanth knocked the off-stump in his first over, the cheers echoed all around the park. As Jalaj proceeded with a fine spell, the other bowlers supported him throughout. Ashish Rajiv with 33 runs was the highest run-scorer for Puducherry.
Robin Uthappa and Muhammad Azharuddeen started well, stiched a well-paced 50 runs partnership. They departed in quick intervals. However, Sanju Samson and his deputy Sachin Baby stitched a partnership that closed the gap to a mere 20 odd runs to victory. It was Vishnu Vinod and Salman Nizar who crossed the finishing line for Kerala.
What Next For The Rajasthan Royals Star
The wicket-keeper-batsman has been one of the top contenders to become Team India’s first choice. However, he has not been able to really leave his mark on the national team so far. He will want to change that in the upcoming edition of the IPL (IPL 2021). If he is able to do that, the future looks bright for him.
Else, Sanju Samson may fade away like the bright prospect that he could have been. However, failed to be!!
