Watch: Virat Kohli Whistles And Asks Chennai Crowd To Cheer Louder For Team India

Virat Kohli

Indian skipper Virat Kohli was seen cheering the crowds, asking them to whistle – Chennai (Anna) style – and make more noise on the Day 2 of the second Test match at the M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. India restricted England to 134 in the second innings, some might say 27 runs short of Indian opener Rohit Sharma’s first innings score.

The Story Of The Second Game And The Reaction By Virat Kohli

The second Test match of England’s tour of India saw the enthusiastic home crowd get into the spectate the competition for the first time since the pandemic struck all walks of life. A match in Chepauk meant some serious appreciators and followers of the game getting into the stands to support team India post a 227-run loss in the first Test against Joe Root’s men.

However, despite the hot sun and slowness of the format, the crowd kept a constant cheering and this made India’s captain Virat Kohli do something special. Kohli was seen gesturing – with his fingers in his mouth (whistle) – and asking the crowd to make some noise.

As Kohli gestured, the noise in the stadium grew with every passing moment. The fans whistled and cheered for their team. Further, the Indian bowlers went after the English batting line-up and take the match to them. For once, the visitors had no answer to the questions that they kept asking them.

What Next For The BCCI And The IPL 2021 Tournament?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted the video on Twitter saying: When in Chennai, you #WhistlePodu! ??# TeamIndia skipper @imVkohli egging the Chepauk crowd on & they do not disappoint. ?? @Paytm #INDvENG

Another fan asked the Chennai Super Kings – the franchise based in M Chidambaram – to buy Kohli in the mega auction.

Well, whether they were supportive comments on trolls, Team India did well right through the day. They have looked really solid in this game so far and that is all that matters. If the crowd continues to support them, they should win this tie for sure.
