Arsenal Board Responsible For The Failure To Sign Antoine Griezmann This Summer

Arsene Wenger has claimed to have seen his move to sign France international Antoine Griezmann in the current transfer window, blocked by the Arsenal board. The French boss was said to have utilized his contacts in the right sense, in order to bring this year’s European Championship Golden Boot winner to the Emirates. Despite that, it now appears to have been blocked by his own board members.

Further, a fake Twitter account had also been set-up pretending to be David Ornstein and there were claims that the Gunners had seen a bid of £70m rejected by former champions of Spain, Atletico Madrid, for the 25 year old forward’s signature,

Reports in France however insist that Arsene Wenger was also willing to pay the fee needed to land the left-footed goalscorer with his minimum fee release clause set at €100m, but his board were least interested in following through with the coach’s demands on this occasion.

The fans had been protesting against their own manager since last term and it seemed a strange decision to lay low, while their rivals seemingly invest heavily in their current squads.

Despite that, this report seems to confirm that Arsene is not at fault this time around and it is the authority in charge of the north London outfit that need to answer.

It may have been this situation which led to Arsenal signing Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna, who may or may not prove to be an ideal signing for the north London club.

The forward netted a club record-levelling 17 goals last term, and had already added one goal in his one outing for Deportivo this term, before switching to the Emirates based side.

Would Griezmann have given Arsenal a huge chance of winning the Premier League title this term? Could Perez have the same effect? Is the board really the ones refusing to spend? Have your say!!
