Lyon have reportedly offered to renew star striker Alexandre Lacazette’s contract and want to give him a massive contract offer. This is definitely not a good news for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. The 25-year-old France international has started the 2016/17 campaign in a very impressive form, netting six goals in just three appearances for Lyon.
Further, it was stated that Wenger hoped that he could secure the the signature of the Frenchman and have a better and reliable alternative to hit-and-miss Gunners out of favour forward Olivier Giroud.
The veteran forward had a pretty good bid of £29.3m turned down by his current club this summer, Arsenal have kept an eye on him for a number of years now.
And It now seems Lyon are hoping to offer him a better deal and get a hold of him for a long-term.
According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has agreed to offer £85,000-a-week deal for Lacazette – if Alexandre Lacazette sign this deal he would be Lyon’s highest earning player.
There would also be a a big release clause inserted in the supposed agreement between both the parties, which is estimated to be at £59m.
Although Arsenal manager Wenger has previously said that money is not an issue when it comes to securing his top targets during the summer transfer window, he would now have to break his previous record £42.5m for signing their star player Mesut Ozil, in order to sign the Frenchman.
