Koeman Wants €30M-Rated Midfielder At Barcelona; Move Could Trigger Liverpool’s Deal Too

La Liga giants Barcelona are looking very serious in the transfer window. After extending the contract of Lionel Messi and adding a few stars amongst their ranks, they are pushing for more. Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia have already signed for Barca. Now, they are looking to add yet another midfielder to their squad. Ronaldo Koeman looks keen to take his team right back to the top.

As the new season 21/22 is on the horizon, there is a lot of movement here and there in the summer market of players. After already making three signings, Barça is thinking of yet another player who had a good Euros campaign to his name.

Ronald Koeman and the challenge of the second chance

The Deal That Barcelona Manager Ronald Koeman Is Really Eager To Complete

Ronald Koeman has reportedly asked for the signing of Renato Sanches as he feels the need for muscle in his Barça midfield. AS reports that the Dutch coach has requested in particular for this signing after he decided that he meets the criteria of a new midfielder at the club. A search of other positions like centre back and left-back is also on.

The 23-year-old, Renato, is a youth product of the Lisbon based Benfica, where he won the golden boy award earning him a move to Bayern Munich where failed to show the same flame as his chances to play were immensely cut. But the talented Portuguese rose back into the limelight in a Ligue-1 winning season with Lille where he played an extraordinary part.

Renato since his move in 2019 lightened his career back as and took advantage of his young age. Now a good and integral part of Lille, the club have demanded a fee of around €30m for the midfielder amid interest from Football Club Barcelona. Seeing his performances with Ronaldo’s Portugal at the Euros, like many clubs, Barca might be poised to dish out the amount needed to get him to the Camp Nou.

After failing to land home Wijnaldum, it only makes sense that Barca now tries to get the alternatives to Catalonia as they don’t want the coach’s wish to be ignored as the club got the incredible Memphis Depay on the request on Ronald Koeman, there’s a real possibility Renato is bought on his words too. It’s a great deal because Sanches has shown that he can now be trusted at the highest level as he was the best midfielder Portugal had in the big European country competition of this year.

How The Deal Could Benefit Liverpool In The Process?

Adding onto missing the former Liverpool man to PSG, Barca also looks like they’re not going to completely exchange Antoine Griezmann with Saul. That is as the Catalan club is failing to reach an agreement with the current La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid. Considering both these situations, also the former Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanić looks like he will be shown the exit door very soon.

There is no place for him at Camp Nou as per the recent stories. Juve is also keen to have him back in their squad.

However, with Barca failing to sign Saul, Liverpool could benefit from the deal. Sanches to Barcelona ends the La Liga side’s interest in him. On the other hand, it means that the Reds will not get their primary target. Keeping that in mind, they will push hard to sign Saul and a deal in cash could happen.

Barcelona’s market continues to get better. They already announced multiple players and are planning to add to that list. Renato Sanches is certainly a good figure to look at considering the immense talent he possesses in him. He is also very much linked to Liverpool, who is also in search of a midfielder to replace Wijnaldum. Let’s see who gets their hands on the 23-year-old Portuguese. The club who let Wijnaldum go on free, or the club that missed the opportunity to land him on a free.
