Go Home Everyone Else, Is This A Contender For Goal Of The Year?

What A Goal?? On Wednesday night, Argentine attacking midfielder Matias Zaracho produced a moment of magic in front of the goal in the Copa Libertadores quarterfinal. Zaracho’s brace helped Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro to progress into the semis beating Argentine opponent River Plate comfortably. Between his two goals, the first one is being said as the goal of the year by many.

A silky move on the right-wing from former Porto winger Hulk started the attack before he put in a perfect cross into the opposition box for Zaracho to finish with a brilliant overhead kick. This is surely one of the best goals in the tournament’s history. This goal was so good that you need to hear as many different announcers’ reactions as possible to fully appreciate it.

What A Brilliant Goal This Was; What A Finish!!

Three Brazilian clubs are in the semis already, which is itself a history for Brazilian club football. The next stage of the Copa Libertadores will be played on September 22. If Fluminense beats Ecuadorian side Barcelona SC on Thursday, then all four semi-finalists will be Brazilian clubs for the very first time in Copa Libertadores history. Atletico Mineiro, Palmeiras and Flamengo are all through to the semifinals.

Former Chelsea and Atletico de Madrid striker Diego Costa has joined Atletico Mineiro on a free transfer. The 32-year-old forward was without any contract for the last nine months after the Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid terminated his contract six months before its expiration date last December, with the Spaniards citing ‘personal reasons for the move.

Diego Costa won three trophies in England with Chelsea and was a popular figure at Stamford Bridge during his time there. He was crucial for Chelsea’s success in winning the English Premier League title in 2015 and in 2017. He finally left the club after falling out with manager Antonio Conte and rejoined Atletico Madrid. Following the termination of his contract last year, Costa had the chance to join Arsenal or Juventus as both the clubs showed interest in him, but no deal got finalized.

Now, the Brazil-born Spanish international striker has completed his switch to Belo Horizonte. Goal reported that he has signed a one-year contract worth £40,000-per-week to play for the Brazilian top-flight leaders.

As Per TV Galo, Costa Made Some Really Good Remarks; What He Meant?

‘From the world to Belo Horizonte: Diego Costa is now from Clube Atlético Mineiro,’ the club posted to their 2.2million followers on Sunday.

Diego Costa is hoping to win trophies with his new club and is very excited to play in Brazil.

“Eu quero ganhar. Se tiver minha mãe dentro de campo, eu vou ter que dar nela também.”

That roughly translates to: “If my mother was on the pitch. And I had to beat her to win, I would. I am going to do everything to win.”

“There will be no lack of dedication, running and of course, goals. After so many years in Europe, I dreamed of playing Brazilian football. Nowhere better than here, a team with tradition… I hope it is a blessed year full of titles.”
