Darren Bent has advised Mohamed Salah to reject down any offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid in favour of remaining at Liverpool.
Darren Bent, as reported by Tribal Football, expressed his thoughts on the reports connecting Mohamed Salah to both Barcelona and Real Madrid when speaking on talkSPORT. In a statement, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker said that Salah must remain at Liverpool and that any offer from either of the two La Liga giants should be rejected.
As the season got underway, Salah is in the best shape of his life, having opened the season in a spectacular manner. So far this season, the 29-year-old has amassed an incredible 15 goals and six assists in only 13 games in all competitions, which is an incredible achievement.
Because of his outstanding start to the season, many believe he will win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award ahead of other world-class players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Robert Lewandowski. According to the most recent comments made by Graham Potter, the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, Salah is not just world-class, but “out of this world-class” at the moment.
As a result, with Salah playing some of the finest football of his career, his long-term future at Liverpool should not be in doubt. Instead, with a little more than 18 months left on his current contract, Salah’s future has become more unknown, despite the fact that he has said that he is open to remaining at Anfield until he is no longer needed.
What should Mohammed Salah do; should he make a move to Spain like Eden Hazard did?
Now, Darren Bent has spoken out against Salah’s condition while appearing on a section of talkSPORT (h/t Tribal Football) and discussing the subject. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has specifically said that Salah should remain at Liverpool rather than going to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
“Do you know what has worked for him as well?” Bent inquired. “There aren’t many options for him to choose from. Observe the financial situation of either Barcelona or Real Madrid. Neither club is in a good financial position. I’m aware that they (Real Madrid) made an absurdly high offer for Kylian Mbappe, but it seems that this is the player they want to sign. They are in the process of rebuilding.”
‘When you think of the top clubs in the world right now, I think of Liverpool, Chelsea, City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. All of which have a chance to win the Champions League.’ In the event, if Barcelona or Real Madrid came in for me right now while I am still at Liverpool, I would surely like to remain put.”
Salah has been linked to both Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent weeks, with the latter being the more likely destination. However, given the player’s insistence that leaving Liverpool is an inconceivable scenario for him, it is possible that his contract renewal will be a question of when rather than if when it comes to his extension.
