Virender Sehwag Talks About England And New Zealand And What Team India Should Learn From Them

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag reveals his opinion regarding what India should learn from New Zealand and England.

Team India had a disastrous outing in the T20 World Cup in 2021, as they were knocked out of the competition in the group round. India’s inability to win the tournament was quite shocking, given that they were widely considered to be heavy favourites. Although they were the big favourites going into the mega tournament, the players were unable to live up to expectations, as they were humiliated in their subsequent matches against Pakistan and New Zealand.

There is no denying that the Virat Kohli-led team came under fire from a variety of quarters for their underwhelming performance. Notably, the Men in Blue have not been able to win an International Cricket Council (ICC) trophy since winning the Champions Trophy in 2013. In contrast, England won the 2019 World Cup and qualified for the final of the 2016 T20 World Cup in India.

Speaking about New Zealand, they have qualified for the finals of the past three International Cricket Council competitions – the T20 World Cup in 2021, the World Test Championship in 2021 and the World Cup in 2019.

A fan recently questioned former Indian opener Virender Sehwag if India could learn anything from how the England and New Zealand teams played. Despite the fact that Sehwag believes India can defeat both sides on any given day, he believes the Men in Blue must play a courageous style of cricket.

India is a strong squad that is capable of defeating both England and New Zealand on any given day: Virender Sehwag

“India does not need to learn anything from them,” said Sehwag. The Indian team is a good one that can beat both England and New Zealand on any given day, but one thing they can definitely learn is to be positive and play positively because T20 format, or white-ball cricket, is a format of brave players, and you have to take risks, and you have to express yourself,” Virender Sehwag said in his show Virugiri Dot Com.

Well, a lot of Pundits may have different opinions on this matter. However, it will always be debatable for the long run.

India will face New Zealand in a home series starting from November 17, which will be a great learning curve for them for the future

Meanwhile, Team India is preparing to face New Zealand in a three-match Twenty20 International series that will begin on November 17 and conclude on November 22. A piece of advice from the cricketing icon was to encourage India’s cricket squad to play fearless cricket and not to be concerned with the outcome of the match.

Indian former cricketer Virender Sehwag observed, “India has done it brilliantly in the past. The moment has arrived once again for us to repeat it.’ As a parting message, Sehwag advised India to “play a courageous and expressive brand of cricket when New Zealand comes to India. Do not be concerned about the outcome because if you play fearlessly, the outcome will be in your favour.”
