As per recent reports, Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater has become a shocking £30m January transfer target for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils’ boss spent a total of £150m this summer on the likes of Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitarayan, while star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was signed on a free transfer.
However, despite all the big spendings, there is still money for the Portuguese main-man to spend and he intends to sign the Leicester and England ace using those funds.
It could mean a return to Manchester for the midfield superstar, who was born there and he could now join the Premier League outfit that rejected him previously four years ago.
Drinkwater was at the club since the age of nine, though he never got a chance to make a first team appearance for them.
During his time with the Manchester based side, he was away on loan at Huddersfield, Cardiff, Watford and Barnsley before eventually joining the Foxes permanently in January 2012.
If the move does go through in the new year, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact the 26 year old superstar might have on the United team, if he does make a return and is given the chance to showcase his talents.
The Englishman is a really hard-working player and would surely help strengthen this United team, at the centre of the pitch, though it is certain that Mourinho will really have to try hard to acquire this target in the upcoming days.
