Barcelona News: Barcelona has allegedly contacted Ousmane Dembele to negotiate a new contract at the Nou Camp, according to reports
Barcelona News: The Catalan giants attempted to unload the Frenchman in January. But they were unsuccessful in their efforts. This happened after the former Borussia Dortmund star turned down the club’s most recent offer of a new contract to stay at the club.
President Joan Laporta took issue with the players’ requests in regards to a new contract. He has previously commented on Dembele allegedly having a contract set up with another team. Laporta stated, (via Football-Espana): “We believe Ousmane Dembele has reached a deal with another club. He was adamant about not leaving the club in January. He has a position that is tough to comprehend and that does not make sense for him or the club.”
Barcelona, on the other hand, seems to be prepared to reverse course on their position on Dembele’s status at the club. They want to begin negotiations with the player.
This season, the winger has been in excellent form for the Blaugrana. The Blaugrana are prepared to negotiate a new contract with the player, according to Sky Sports.
Dembele has made 20 appearances for Barcelona since Xavi’s arrival in November. Thus, scoring two goals and assisting on nine others. He has played a significant role in the club’s transition, which has been managed by the Spanish boss.

Meanwhile, ABC (via Liverpool Echo) reported that the French star was interested in joining the Reds. However, from Dembele’s point of view, it looks like he has always desired to stay at the Nou Camp.
According to Mundo Deportivo (via Forbes), the winger shared the following information with his teammates:
“I’d want to continue my career at Barca. I am quite pleased with this place, and I have faith in this idea. In addition, Xavi (Hernandez) is someone with whom I am quite pleased.”
The disagreement over Dembele’s new contract seems to have originated from his demands, rather than the player’s desire to quit the club.
Barcelona has had financial difficulties in recent years as a result of the exorbitant transfer prices they have spent for players in the past. This explains why the team was unable to agree on a new contract with legendary forward Lionel Messi in the summer of 2021.
