Latest Arsenal News: Manchester City’s Decision Opens A Move For Gabriel Jesus

Latest Arsenal News

Latest Arsenal News: Kevin Campbell, thinks that Gabriel Jesus will be allowed to depart this summer to create a place for Erling Haaland. Since the beginning of the season, Jesus has been on fire. He scored a total of seven goals in his previous five appearances.

However, the 25-year-old is expected to be replaced at the front of the line by Borussia Dortmund standout Erling Haaland next season. According to the Mail, Haaland has reached an agreement with Manchester City. This would see the Norwegian hitman become the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

Campbell, a former Arsenal and Everton striker, feels that the purchase of Haaland will herald the end of Jesus’ stay in Manchester. He went on to say that Jesus should depart to pursue more first-team chances.

During an interview with Football Insider, Campbell said, “Listen, Man City knows the player and they understand the worth of whom they have. However, if they can bring in Erling Haaland, he will be a starter. He will not come to replace Jesus. He will be the first player to take the field in every game. As a result, Jesus’ playing time would be limited. He is demonstrating that he has been a wonderful servant to Man City right now. However, I believe they will do the right thing and release him. He will begin at a different location. At Arsenal, he would be the first choice. The fact that he will not be starting makes it impossible for him to sign a new contract when Haaland enters the picture. I believe they will release Jesus this summer to regain some money.”

In his current contract at Manchester City, Jesus, who has been utilized mostly as a right-winger this season until his recent hot run as a centre-forward, has little over a year remaining on his current deal. Arsenal has reportedly shown a strong interest in signing the Brazilian international, according to The Athletic.

The striker has been with City since his 2017 move from Palmeiras. He scored 95 goals in 232 appearances for the Sky Blues at that time. There were expectations that he would succeed Sergio Aguero at the club. But he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter throughout his time with the Cityzens.

According to the report, there is no contact yet between the two Premier League teams. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, on the other hand, has already collaborated with the attacker during the Spaniard’s tenure as Pep Guardiola’s assistant.

Arsenal is in severe need of attacking reinforcements this summer. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s contracts at the Emirates will expire at the end of the season.

Since Arsenal’s interest in him was first revealed, the Brazilian has been in excellent form. He has six goals in his past three appearances across all competitions, including one in Manchester City’s 4-0 victory against Leeds United on Saturday. This returned the club to the top of the Premier League table.

Jesus’ lack of starts this season has prompted speculation that he may be looking to leave the club. Although he has now started four of the team’s past five games. However, due to the expiration of his contract, City needs to come up with a figure. A number they would be willing to accept this summer if he does not agree to a new agreement.
