IPL 2022 Final: "He Has Not Yet Matured"- Aakash Chopra Criticises Yashasvi Jaiswal's Poor Shot Selection In The IPL 2022 Final

IPL 2022 Final: Aakash Chopra has pointed out that Yashasvi Jaiswal’s immaturity was a factor in his departure during the batting of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2022 final match.

After getting off to a quick start, Jaiswal hit a Yash Dayal ball that went right down Sai Kishore’s neck when he was in a deep square leg position. The Titans were able to chase down the Rajasthan Royals’ total of 130/9 with relative ease since it was below par.

In a video that Chopra uploaded to his YouTube account and shared with the public, he discussed the Rajasthan Royals’ innings and made the following comments on Jaiswal’s dismissal:

“Even if there was some movement in the wrong direction in the beginning, the start was not terrible. In the first six to eight balls, Yashasvi didn’t score any runs. But after that, he started hitting sixes. However, following that, he lost his wicket because he got a bit too passionate about the game. A fielder was stationed in the deep, and because it is not a very small ground. The maturity has not yet arrived.”

IPL 2022 Final; Chopra said that Buttler was playing the waiting game

The former player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) observed that Jos Buttler was attempting to play the waiting game at the opposite end of the pitch. He went on to explain:

“Jos was virtually playing run-a-ball with his play. He was remaining there, even though he was aware that batting would not be simple but that he should not get out. He believed that if he stayed there, he would be able to replicate the success he had in Kolkata when they had scored 190, provided that they could score between 160 and 170 runs.”

Buttler showed a great deal of restraint for all of his knocks and may have been saving his aggression for the Golden Triangle bowlers in the latter stages of the Rajasthan Royals innings. However, to his dismay, after scoring 39 runs, he was caught behind after getting an outside edge to delivery by Hardik Pandya.

Aakash Chopra criticises Sanju Samson’s shot selection

Aakash Chopra had some harsh words to say about the shot that Sanju Samson hit that got him dismissed. He went on to explain:

“Sanju played a terrible shot. When he looks back on it, he will be sorry he did it. A better shot was anticipated. He had done it by scoring 14 runs while facing 11 balls and hitting two fours. He went for another glory shot and then got out. That’s when the narrative took a turn for the worst.”

The well-known analyst pointed out that Devdutt Padikkal seemed to be struggling in the center of the field. He also said that Shimron Hetmyer was unable to lead the Rajasthan Royals to a respectable score. He remarked that

“Although Devdutt Padikkal showed up, he was unable to accurately time the ball. Rashid got him out. He was clearly having trouble. The plot shifted in a new direction when Jos got out. Shimron Hetmyer posed a danger for a while. But he was eventually eliminated as well. There were just 130 runs available on the board.”

However, Chopra conceded that the 131-run target may have presented a tougher test for the Titans if Yuzvendra Chahal had held on to Shubman Gill’s catch before the GT opener had opened his account.
