Well, the move of Pedro Neto to Arsenal is definitely picking up speed. On Tuesday, it was said that Edu had met with the attacker’s agent from Wolverhampton Wanderers to try to bring him to North London this summer.
The Times says that Arsenal will need about £60 million to get the player to leave Molineux before the transfer window closes in eight days.
Time is running out, but luckily for the Gunners, they have one big advantage. Fabrizio Romano says that Neto is “very keen” on signing with Arsenal. If this is true, it could speed up and smooth out this process a lot.
What did Fabrizio Romano say about Pedro Neto to Arsenal?
He said on his podcast, “Here We Go,”: “It’s not easy to talk with Wolves because they want more than £50m. Let’s see what happens after the bills are paid. I forgot one thing: Neto would be very tempted to join Arsenal. I’ve been told that the player is also an important part of this move. He isn’t forcing anything, but he is very interested.”
Romano said that it’s not an “easy negotiation,” but the fact that the player wants to join the buying club should, in theory, make things a little bit easier.
Of course, it’s not a sure thing that Arsenal will get the player they want. Remember that Nicolas Pepe, who makes £140,000 per week, still has to leave in some way, freeing up a big chunk of the salary budget.
But right now, things look very good, and it’s even better that Neto seems willing to play at the Emirates Stadium.
The Portuguese player rose to fame during the 2020–21 season with his electric performances on both wings. He is known for being fast and direct. In 35 games, he scored five goals and set up six others.
Will the move go through?
Last season, he hurt his knee for a long time and could only play 13 games. But he has started all three Premier League games for his club this season.
Neto has played 95 games for Wolves since he was bought from Lazio for £18 million in 2019. He has scored 11 goals and set up 12 others.
If a deal with Arsenal goes through, he will be their sixth summer signing. Gabriel Jesus, Oleksander Zinchenko, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, and Marquinhos are among the players they have signed so far.
Fabrizio Romano, an expert on transfers, says that Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe is close to making a loan deal with Nice for a season. The clubs are currently talking about salaries, which is thought to be the last step in their talks.
