'You All Don't Learn, Another Maguire in Making'-Twitter Reacts As Chelsea Set To Sign Wesley Fofana For £75m

Chelsea and Leicester City have agreed to a deal for Wesley Fofana, which could make him the most expensive centre-back in the world.

The Blues and the Foxes have been talking about a move for the 21-year-old for the past month, and the Blues have had three offers for the French Under-21 player turned down.

Chelsea came back with their fourth offer, which was guaranteed to be worth £70 million and included extras that would make the transfer worth more than the £80 million that Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019. This evening, Leicester said yes to the offer.

Wesley Fofana to Chelsea

Over the past 10 days, Fofana has done everything he could to get a move to Stamford Bridge agreed upon by both clubs. This week, he didn’t show up for a day of training, so Brendan Rodgers sent him to train with Leicester’s Under-21 team.

Rodgers said, “He doesn’t train with the first team. He is working out with the Under-21s so that he can keep working and get better at football. At this point, it’s so important to keep any distractions under control. I can only choose players who really want to play for the first team and are willing to give their all. If not, he trains with the team for under 21.”

When Chelsea first showed interest in Fofana, Rodgers said in public that the centre-back wasn’t for sale. But they soon changed their minds. Chelsea came to know that they could sign him.

Leicester stuck to their goal of getting a world-record fee for the defender. The Foxes are hoping that the package offered by Chelsea will one day be worth more than what they got for Maguire.
