Virat Kohli isn’t known for scoring quickly as soon as he walks out to bat in T20 games, but a lot was expected of his strike rate against Hong Kong. Still, he was able to score more than 50 runs, but it took 40 balls against a mediocre bowling attack.
Before the Asia Cup 2022, there was a lot of talk about how Virat Kohli would do after taking a one-month break. In the first game of the tournament, against arch-rivals Pakistan, the 33-year-old didn’t live up to expectations. He scored 35 runs off 34 balls, which helped his team win. India is playing Hong Kong two days later at the same place in Dubai.
Since he walked onto the field at No. 3, Kohli has played some great shots. But the Indian fans were worried about his strike rate, and he didn’t get much help from KL Rahul, who took 39 balls to get to 36. Still, Kohli made it to fifty, which was his 31st half-century in T20Is. It took him 40 balls to get to fifty. And Kohli knew it wasn’t his best, so he didn’t want to celebrate when he reached the milestone.
Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav stitched together the best partnership
Suryakumar Yadav’s easy finish has helped India get off to a good finish at the end. At the end of the innings, Suryakumar was still not out. He had hit six sixes and as many fours in just 28 balls, giving him a score of 68. Kohli, on the other hand, scored 59 runs off 44 balls, and India ended the batting with a score of 192/2.
Notably, Kohli had a bad run with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022. He also had a forgettable run in the all-format series against the England National Cricket Team, where he got the highest score of 20 in six innings. After his trip to England, he was taken out of the West Indies and Zimbabwe series to rest.
