‘Try Searching For Your Stuffs In The British Museum’-Twitter Reacts As Indian Women’s Cricketer Taniya Bhatia Complains Of A Theft At The Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale Management

Taniya Bhatia

Taniya Bhatia is in trouble!! While it was a very happy ending for the Indian women’s team on the pitch, comprehensively beating England 3-0 in the ODI series, winning a series on English soil for the first time since 1999, and giving the perfect farewell for veteran stalwart Jhulan Goswami.

However, it was not exactly a happy ending outside the field for Taniya Bhatia. Almost immediately after the win, she tweeted that she was robbed of her essentials as well as her valuables…. From her hotel room.

The incident off the pitch involving Taniya Bhatia that shocked the whole world!!

The Indian team were living in the plush Marriot Hotel in London. Taking to Twitter, Bhatia narrated her ordeal. She Tweeted, “Shocked and disappointed at Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management; someone walked into my personal room and stole my bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery during my recent stay as a part of Indian Women’s Cricket team. @MarriottBonvoy @Marriott. So unsafe. She further added, “Hoping for a quick investigation and resolution of this matter. Such lack of security at @ECB_cricket’s preferred hotel partner is astounding. Hope they will take cognizance as well.”
This comes a rather unpleasant ordeal for someone who is representing her country at the highest level of her sport, and the fact that the hotel is a very close and key partner of the ECB when it comes to hosting travelling teams, there should be a thorough inquest leading to a proper investigation in this matter. How can a hotel have such poor security in a city that is surrounded by cameras at each and every corner?. Surely this is something that hotel authorities as well as the England board need to look at with real urgency.

What were the top comments coming out of Twitter post the details of the incident that Taniya Bhatia suffered were broken out??

As expected, Twitter was ablaze with replies from fans who were not pleased with the incident, and had their own quirky ways to react to the situation. One user replied, “Sorry for your loss, but you might find it in the British Museum”.
Another user said, “Now that’s not the way to get back at the players for a legit run-out “.
One user tweeted, ” The English just can’t stop stealing from Indians”
One of them hilariously wrote, “Maybe you will find it in the Buckingham palace after a few years”.
As far as Taniya Bhatia is concerned, we can only hope that she is fine and has recovered from the trauma

Twitter reacted to the incident in the most sarcastic way possible and tried to console the Indian woman cricketer:

Eventually no further updates were given out and it was just left it at that!!

Not a safe country for anyone to be, if incidents like these impact the mental peace of the cricketers (not just them, common people too). With that being said, hopefully the much needed-action was taken by the ECB and other governing bodies.

The women’s cricket team for India has made us proud on multiple occasions. It is time to keep supporting them, even when the play is not the best.
