FIFA World Cup 2022: Don’t Want To End Up In Jail; Know What’s Allowed In Qatar

FIFA World Cup 2022 latest update- Qatar is about to host the FIFA World Cup from 20th of November to 18th of December. Qatar is the smallest country ever to host this event which has a population of around 3 million. During the FIFA World cup, 1.5 million fans from other countries are expected to arrive here so there are some do’s and don’ts for the people of various countries.

This might be the last world cup for the iconic Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as they will be hanging their boots soon. The Lusial stadium is about to host the final which has a capacity of 80,000 fans.

Let’s look at what are the rules for the fans who are coming to watch and experience the FIFA World Cup 2022-

Covid rules – Fans will be tested for Covid-19 in Qatar. If tested positive, they will be go into the isolation and other Covid restrictions. Masks are compulsory for all.

Ehteraz application – Each fan will need to download the Qatar’s official contract-tracing Ehteraz app and activate it. Pre-entry online registration needs to be done through www.ehteraz.gov.qa atleast three days before arrival. Fans who have the Hayya card will be excluded from pre-entry registration.

Entry restrictions: Only the Qatar citizens, residents and the Hayya card holders are allowed to enter the country till 23rd December.

What about the other general aspects of the tournament and how one should behave at the competition!?

Clothing: Fans can’t remove their shirts in the stadium. Men and Women need to wear dresses which cover their shoulders and knees to show the respect for the local culture. Swimwear is permitted in hotels, beaches and swimming pools.

Alcohol and beer: People from the other countries are not allowed to bring alcohol. The legal drinking age is 21 with having an original photo id. Further, FIFA recently confirmed that sale of all liquor has been banned at the event.

Currency: All major credit cards are accepted and also ATMS are widely available.

FIFA World Cup 2022: Is Qatar a safe place to be??

The simple answer is yes, definitely. For many people, it may not be the ideal place for them to watch a World Cup. However, it is the country that is hosting this tournament. The fans will have to adhere to their rules. And respect their demands if they want to have a good time.

It’s just a one-off tournament with such major restrictions. However, that does not make Qatar a bad place to be for any reason. They have a certain rule-structure, so as to speak and expect everyone to follow their protocols.

With that being said, at the end of the day, the fans would want to focus on the football. That is the important part, rather than all the controversy surrounding the World Cup. It is a team game and may the best team finally win!!
