The injury to striker Gabriel Jesus at the 2022 Qatar World Cup has prompted rumours that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may turn to offensive midfielder Martin Odegaard as a false nine.
For Arsenal, MIKEL ARTETA may fill in for MARTIN ODEGAARD as their “FALSE NINE.”
Jesus, who transferred to the Gunners from Premier League champions City that summer of 2022, now serves as the team’s starting striker.
While Jesus is out, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta must come up with an upfront answer. If you believe TEAMtalk, Arteta is contemplating using either Odegaard or Fabio Vieira as a false nine.
Will Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta play Martin Odeegard in the false 9 position?
Former Arsenal prospect Fabrice Muamba called Norway international offensive midfielder Henrik Odegaard “exceptional” on his YouTube channel in November. Arteta appears to believe that Odegaard might play in a different capacity than his current playmaking one.
We think it will be intriguing to watch how Martin Odegaard performs as a false nine if Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, decides to use him in that capacity.
Rather than experimenting with the system too much, it could be best for Arsenal if Arteta plays Eddie Nketiah as the number 9 while Jesus is absent. The Norwegian can score goals and retain the ball well.
Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal, has said that he has no idea when striker Gabriel Jesus will return from a knee injury. The Premier League club would evaluate its possibilities in the next transfer window.

Gabriel Jesus’ update:
Jesus was taken off due to injury after Brazil’s 1-0 loss to Cameroon in their last group-stage encounter at the World Cup. He will not be able to play any more games.
According to rumours, the 25-year-old striker might miss up to three months of action after undergoing surgery on his right knee.
Jesus, who moved to Arsenal from Manchester City this offseason, has scored five goals in 20 games for the league’s top team this year in all competitions.
Arteta claimed that Arsenal would miss the Brazilian’s “so much” contribution to the squad if he were injured. This might impact their transfer intentions for the next January window.
