“We Won’t Sign Him Anymore….”, Two Rival Clubs, Arsenal And Chelsea, Reject The Signing Of The £65,000-PER-WEEK STAR PLAYER

Matheus Cunha had offers from a number of teams, including two in London: Arsenal and Chelsea

Evening Standard reports that both Arsenal and Chelsea turned down the chance to acquire Matheus Cunha. Both London teams are still interested in signing a striker. But the Brazilian has agreed to a loan with an option to purchase with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After making a great sale before the January window opened, Atletico Madrid was able to relieve some of their financial strain. Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha on an initial loan with an option to purchase for roughly £35 million.

From Atletico Madrid’s standpoint, it’s a decent bargain. But his potential to thrive in the Premier League is in doubt. The Wolves could need some goals and a striker. But Cunha has only scored twice so far this year. The club from the Midlands is taking a major risk by agreeing to this agreement.

Perhaps that’s why so many English clubs said “no” when offered Cunha during the World Cup. Chelsea and Arsenal were both offered the chance to recruit the striker.

After suffering injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Armando Broja, the London clubs are looking to add a fresh striker to their rosters. The two teams’ apparent disinterest in signing Cunha suggests they may have had other goals in mind. Although Chelsea is still connected with notable players like Dusan Vlahovic, they have already agreed to terms with Molde star David Datro Fofana.

Were Chelsea and Arsenal right?

Chelsea is looking to bring in a new striker who can immediately go into the starting lineup. Graham Potter can only turn to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz, a pair that has failed to deliver. The Blues are trying to replace their starting forward since they know they cannot depend on them for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal is still debating whether or not to add a new striker to fill up for the injured Jesus. After having knee surgery, the Brazilian striker will be out for around three months. The Gunners have been connected to Vlahovic before. Now Memphis Depay is again being mentioned.

What’s next for Matheus Cunha?

Indications are many that Mikel Arteta will not alter his transfer objectives. They’re hoping to add Mykhaylo Mudryk to the roster as a winger and a midfielder. Word on the street had it that the Gunners had been keeping eyes on Cunha for some time. However, they chose not to sign the Brazilian forward.

Cunha, on the other hand, will be burdened with the weight of the world if Wolves are to escape the drop zone. As the league’s cellar dwellers, Julen Lopetegui’s squad could use the services of a potent striker. Wolves have taken a clear risk by signing the great player from Atletico. But the issue of whether or not the Brazilian can develop into that forward still lingers.
