Liverpool is very close to signing Cody Gakpo, a forward for PSV Eindhoven
The Athletic claims that the 23-year-old Dutch international will join Liverpool for about £37 million. According to the source, the Reds and the player’s agency SEG have a strong working connection. A deal with the Dutch club is imminent.
The all-around forward for PSV Eindhoven has recorded 13 goals and 17 assists in 2022-23
As Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are both injured and out of action for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp knew he had to make a quality addition to his team’s assault. The timing of Gakpo’s signing was perfect.

In recent weeks, there has been widespread speculation that the player may be transferred to the Premier League. His services were apparently much sought after by Manchester United. But the Anfield giants seem to be close to signing the 23-year-old ahead of United.
Gakpo has not even reached his prime yet. A coach like Klopp may bring forth his full potential.
It’s not out of the question that the German manager can do the same for Gakpo as he has with other young, promising attackers since his arrival at Anfield.
What will Cody Gakpo provide Liverpool with?
Liverpool, who are now fifth in the Premier League, will be aiming to finish in the top four next season in order to qualify for the Champions League the following year. They need to become better if they want to go back into the top four. A good signing in January may inspire the team and help them do that.
With today’s 3-1 victory against Aston Villa, the Reds have opened the second half of the Premier League season with momentum. The 23-year-old had a fantastic tournament in Qatar, scoring three goals as he led the Netherlands to the knockout round. Virgil van Dijk, a defender for Liverpool and the Netherlands, praised his national teammate at the 2022 World Cup.
“Hopefully Cody can go to the moon and back,” said Van Dijk during the tournament in Qatar.
“He is a very good player and a good boy too. What we see in training is what you see on the pitch. There is still so much potential and I hope he can carry on showing it for us. We are very happy with him,” he added.
