“We Are Making Sure That We get Him”, Arsenal And Mikel Arteta Have Turned Their Attention Towards The 21-Year-Old Midfielder

Reports have it that Arsenal is looking to acquire Serbian midfielder Ivan Ilic, 21-year-old, from Hellas Verona of Italy’s Serie A

Manager Mikel Arteta of Arsenal reportedly wants to add midfielder Ivan Ilic to bolster his team’s options, as reported by Italian publication Corriere dello Sport. Arteta, who worked with the now-21-year-old as a teammate at Manchester City, has a deep familiarity with the player’s stellar reputation throughout Europe.

The young player, just 21 years old, quit the Premier League club before making his debut. In Serie A, though, he is well-known. It would be intriguing to see whether Arsenal can sign the teenager in the next window, given he was a member of Serbia’s World Cup team.

According to the rumour, Arsenal is planning a move for the month of January. On the other hand, a switch is more likely to occur when the current season concludes. It is common knowledge that the Gunners need to strengthen their midfield. This kid might be a good long-term investment for them.

Will Ivan Ilic move to Arsenal?

Due to a lack of depth in the team, Arteta has been forced to rely on the same two midfielders for the whole season: Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. The addition of the 21-year-old will provide Arteta with additional flexibility. Thus, allowing the Arsenal manager to rest key players and save their energy for the most important matches.

There is potential for Ilic to grow into a solid player. Arteta seems like the kind of coach who might help him reach his full potential. The young player may be eager to make his imprint in the Premier League in the future after leaving Manchester City without making an impact.

What’s next?

It remains to be seen whether a transfer to Arsenal is in the 21-year-old’s best interests. However, Ilic’s growth can only be sustained by consistent playing time. As for whether the Gunners will guarantee him a spot on the first team, that remains to be seen.

Ilic will need to carefully consider his next move, since sitting on the bench at a great team might be detrimental to his development. However, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, another Serie A-based midfielder, has also emerged as a priority target for Arsenal.

It has been speculated for quite some time that Milinkovic-Savic will go to the Premier League. The 27-year-old has been playing for Lazio in Serie A for the last seven and a half years. In that time he has been widely recognized as one of Europe’s finest midfielders.

Arsenal is not planning to make any midfield additions during the next transfer window. Mikel Arteta wants to bolster his team’s attack by bringing in a winger.

However, Arteta is eager to seize any openings that present themselves. After the 2022 season, Milinkovic-contract Savic’s with Lazio will expire.
