Arsenal Newsnow: The transfer of Joao Felix, a striker for Atletico Madrid and a target for Arsenal has apparently been agreed upon between Arsenal and Atletico
Arsenal Newsnow: The Athletic claims that Joao Felix has already agreed to a verbal loan contract with Chelsea until the end of the season. The Gunners also wanted the Portuguese international player, who is now 23 years old. The 23-year-old La Liga attacker will join the Blues for a rumoured sum of roughly €11 million. The club will take care of 100% of his salary. Arsenal and Manchester United were also said to be interested in the youngster.
The 23-year-old has struggled ever since he was acquired by the Spanish club for a then-record transfer price. However, he made a big impression for this nation in the World Cup that just ended. With consistent playing time at Chelsea, Felix will be hoping to revive his career.
Arsenal out of the race?
If Felix does well in the Premier League, he may have several suitors interested in signing him permanently at the season’s conclusion. According to reports, the player’s career took a nosedive when he fell out of favour with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and had to be moved on.
Before joining Atletico Madrid, Felix had already established himself as a global superstar. There is no question that he has the talent to revolutionize Chelsea’s final third. As Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling, and Kai Havertz have all mostly underperformed this season, the Blues might need more offensive reinforcements.
The 23-year-old Portuguese international is versatile. He can play in any of the front three positions, giving Graham Potter another option as the season winds down. Chelsea, according to The Athletic’s report, will try to acquire further reinforcements before the end of the January transfer window.
Joao Felix is moving to Chelsea?
Chelsea wants very much to play in the UEFA Champions League next season. Thus they need to strengthen its roster in order to catch up to teams like Manchester United and Tottenham. David Fofana, Andrey Santos, and Benoit Badiashile have all signed with the Blues this month.
Forward Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid has been linked to a move in January. The Blues and the Gunners are both interested in signing him.
Unfortunately for Atletico, Felix has not lived up to the £113 million they spent for him in the summer of 2019. He has scored just 34 goals in 130 games for the La Liga giants. As a result of rumoured tensions with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, the 23-year-old is now available for loan.
