Arsenal Newsnow

Considering Martin Odegaard’s stellar performance for Arsenal this season, the club is allegedly planning to raise his salary. The Norwegian has been outstanding for Mikel Arteta’s squad. He has appeared in 22 games and contributed seven goals and five assists. In large part due to the 24-year-old’s performances, the Gunners now sit atop the Premier League standings with a 14-1-1 record. The former Real Madrid midfielder has been lauded for his inventiveness, vigour, and leadership.

Arsenal’s upper management would want to reward Odegaard with a new deal that would quadruple his current salary. Around £5.3 million ($8.2 million) is his current annual salary. Caught Offside reports that the Gunners are ready to give him a contract worth £8.8 million annually. Edu Gaspar, the club’s director of sport, has begun signing key players to long-term contracts. And so are Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and William Saliba, all of whom might see contract extensions in the near future.

Martin Odegaard to get a new contract?

Arsenal loaned Odegaard from Madrid for the 2020-21 season. Then, they bought him out for £30 million the following year. The Emirates have been profoundly affected by his presence. Arsène Wenger, the legendary manager of Arsenal, likened the impact Odegaard made to that of former player Cesc Fabregas. Speaking to TV2, the Frenchman said:

“He really is like a young Cesc Fabregas. I think he has developed into a complete player. He is a very calm player who analyses the game well. He has his feet firmly planted on the ground.”

Arsenal Newsnow: According to Sven-Goran Erikkson, Arsenal is actively pursuing Goncalo Ramos

Goncalo Ramos Arsenal Newsnow

A blow for Arsenal occurred during the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Gabriel Jesus sustained a knee injury in Qatar. In the summer, the Brazilian moved to the Emirates. Eddie Nketiah has done a fantastic job filling in for Jesus, scoring seven goals in 23 games. However, Eriksson, a former manager of Manchester City, thinks Arteta’s team would be looking at Goncalo Ramos of Benfica.

The teenage Portuguese attacker had a breakthrough tournament, scoring a hat trick in a 6-1 round-of-16 victory against Switzerland. Eriksson tells OLBG that the Gunners should seek him because of his rising status in Europe.

“Goncalo Ramos is a fantastic player; it’s not easy to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as he did. He will end up in the Premier League like a lot of Portuguese players; he can adapt there.”

Ramos has been in excellent form for both the World Cup and Benfica this season, where he has scored 15 goals in 25 appearances. Eriksson thinks he’d be a good fit at Arsenal or Manchester United:

“If he wants to go to England, he’ll want to go to a big club. I’m sure that clubs like Arsenal or Manchester United will look out for him.”

According to Correio do Manha, Ramos has three years remaining on his contract at the Estadio da Luz and a release clause of €120 million (£103 million).
