Arsenal Newsnow: If the Gunners are unable to get Declan Rice this offseason, they may contact Brighton about a summer transfer for Moises Caicedo

Arsenal Newsnow: Evening Standard reports that Arsenal may compete for Moises Caicedo this summer. It’s no secret that Chelsea has made an effort to sign the Ecuadorian midfielder so far this month. If Arsenal is unable to acquire Declan Rice, they may pursue the Brighton midfielder. Arsenal and Chelsea are in the middle of the fight to recruit central midfielders this summer in the Premier League. The Blues are actively looking to add a top-tier holding midfielder to their roster. The Reds are just as interested.

Chelsea made at least two approaches to sign Moises Caicedo. But Brighton turned them down. Despite the failure of an Enzo Fernandez transfer, the Blues are still keen to get a replacement. Brighton may have closed the door on a move this month after reports that they anticipated them to return with a better proposal for Caicedo. Now they’re focusing on Amadou Onana instead. In the summer, they may make another attempt to recruit the Brighton man.

It has been suggested that Arsenal would compete with other teams this summer for the services of Caicedo. Mikel Arteta would want to add competition for Thomas Partey in the centre midfield position. However, they may only be able to bring someone in on a loan basis if they do so within this time. Arteta has given the go-ahead to sign Declan Rice. Arsenal is willing to spend a hefty sum to get the West Ham midfielder, who is an England international.

Chelsea is also interested in Rice and will do a significant effort to get his services. He is willing to return to the Blues, the team he left after graduating from their program. Arsenal may want to keep their options open and prepare an alternate roster in case they are unable to sign Rice.

Caicedo may be one of the first names on it. There is speculation that Arsenal will continue to monitor the 21-year-old Chelsea target. And they had intended to meet the €60 million release clause of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi this month. However, the Spaniard prefers to wait out the season in his own country.

These four midfielders are now on Arsenal’s radar. But Caicedo may end up being their top replacement for Rice. If Brighton is willing to sell, the 21-year-old Chelsea target will want a hefty transfer fee, which Arsenal may be willing to pay.

Cedric Soares will be loaned to Fulham by Arsenal for the duration of the current campaign. The Gunners have had a busy month, recalling players like Arthur Okonkwo, Miguel Azeez, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, and Ovie Ejeheri from loan before sending them on to new teams, and sending others like Harry Clarke to Ipswich Town on a permanent contract when his stint with Stoke City came to an end.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has strengthened his attacking and defensive options by adding £42 million worth of new players with the additions of Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior.
