Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal Football Club under the guidance of Mikel Arteta have been really active in the transfer market of late. Despite failing to secure their top targets, they somehow managed to secure the signatures of the right players that fit their bill. The Gunners have well and truly dictated the terms in the first half of the English Premier League.
Rightly so, they are on top of the points table with 50 points from 19 games. They have won as many as 16 games from the first season, losing just once. On the other hand, they drew twice against Southampton and Newcastle United. The Gunners suffered their only defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier in the series.
Arsenal made some good signings in the transfer market and thus strengthened their case in gunning for the fourth title. In fact, this is also the first time in their history that they have collected more points in the first half of the English Premier League. They went past Arsenal’s Invincibles’ tally of 45 points (19 games in the 2003-04 season).
Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal expressed their late interest in Martin Zubimendi
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano made the headlines after he spoke about Arsenal’s late interest on his official YouTube channel. The popular journalist echoed that Arsenal expressed their late interest in Martin Zubimendi in the late January transfer window.
Speaking on his Youtube channel, the journalist said that Martin was linked to Arsenal towards the end of the transfer period. Fabrizio stressed the fact that the Gunners were keen to secure the services of the Spanish midfielder. However, that wasn’t meant to be as Zubimendi wanted to stay at Real Sociedad until the end of the season.
This is precisely the reason why Arsenal decided against making a move in the transfer market. On the other hand, the journalist noted that the Spanish midfielder didn’t really turn down Arsenal. However, it seems that the EPL table-toppers didn’t up their ante on their interest.
The popular journalist further expressed his views on what he actually knows about this situation. He said that the Gunners were in search of a midfielder to assist the manager with the squad depth. As it turned out, Arsenal were considering Martin Zubimendi but that move didn’t materialize for obvious reasons.

For the unversed, the highly-rated Spanish midfielder was already on Barcelona’s radar. The Gunners made a move for the midfielder, the latter has a release clause. However, as far as the players’ side is concerned, he was satisfied to stay at Real Sociedad until the end of the season.
“I want to start with Arsenal, they wanted a midfielder to help Arteta with the squad depth there. In the final days of the transfer window, they considered a variety of options in the midfield. One of the players they were considering was Martin Zubimendi, a midfielder playing for Real Sociedad. A very good midfielder, already on Barcelona’s radar. Arsenal considered a move for the midfielder, he has a release clause, but on the player’s side, he was happy to stay at Sociedad until the end of the season,” the journalist added.
