Arsenal Transfer News: Everything is uncertain in the transfer market. It is due to the fact that some deals could materialize and some don’t and it is what it is. The Gunners have been proactive in terms of hunting the players in the just-concluded winter transfer window. Although they failed to bring their targets to the Emirates, they had better alternatives in mind.
They have signed a few players in the transfer window to bolster their squad going forward into the second half of the season. As things stand, Arsenal are in a commanding position in the ongoing edition of the English Premier League. The Gunners are relishing the true taste of success after all the hard work they put towards getting better as a team.
They upped their ante to the next level in most part of the first half of the season. This is precisely the reason why they are on top of the table. What really matters for them is how they go about their business in the second half of the season. They have made some decent signings to strengthen their squad. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano, on his YouTube channel revealed that Arsenal nearly signed £52m Real Sociedad star midfielder Martin Zubimendi on deadline day. However, that wasn’t meant to be in the first place. The Gunners completed the signing of Jorginho on deadline day.
Arsenal transfer News: Arsenal nearly signed £52m Real Sociedad star midfielder, says Fabrizio Romano
According to Fabrizio Romano, the table-toppers have made a move to recruit the 24-year-old on the final day of the January transfer but the move didn’t turn out. Nonetheless, the Arsenal manager made up his mind to recruit Jorginho from the Blues on an 18-month deal.
Romano stated, “Martin Zubimendi is one of the players Arsenal also considered for their midfield, but Jorginho was a good option and they decided to proceed for him because Mikel Arteta is a big fan and wanted Jorginho when the Moises Caicedo deal collapsed.”
The journey continues 🙏

“It is important to mention that on Jorginho, Mikel Arteta made the difference. He wanted Jorginho, he’s a big fan of Jorginho, he’s in love with his experience and how popular Jorginho is in the dressing room, and all of these factors made Arsenal go for Jorginho as the best last-minute option,” Fabrizio added.
What did Romano say?
Having played 18 games in La Liga, the Real Sociedad star could score only one goal and provided two assists so far. The Spanish professional footballer will be looking to raise his bars going forward into the second half of La Liga. On the other hand, Jorginho is expected to make his Premier League debut for Arsenal anytime soon. Having a player like Jorginho is an added advantage for Arsenal who are making a bid for the fourth Premier League title. The Gunners last won the Premiership back in 2003-04. The then Arsene Wenger’s side went on to pull off the unthinkable by going the entire season undefeated.
Rightly so, they won the Golden Trophy, which no other football team possesses. Meanwhile, the table-toppers will play against Everton Football Club in the upcoming fixture on February 4, Saturday at Goodison Park.
