Arsenal Transfer News: Ajax Football club has been in dismal form in the ongoing edition of Eredivisie, the highest level of professional football being staged in the Netherlands. Every club has its shortcomings. It is vital to correct the woes before it is too late. Else, the club finds itself in a terrible phase.
In some cases, the club, which is in dismal shape, might as well even take ages for it to recover and bounce back. As far as Ajax are concerned, they are not enjoying the current spell. They are currently placed fourth on the points table. The Dutch football club took the bold call by sacking Alfred Schreuder from the post.
The sacking comes after Ajax could muster only two wins since November 2023. Ajax Football Club also confirmed that John Heitinga will remain as the manager for the remainder of the Eredivisie. They have won 10 games and played out for a draw on seven occasions whereas they lost twice this season.
It remains to be seen how Ajax go about their business in the games to come. They have played 19 games so far and will have to switch gears to see if there is any chance of fighting for the title. Ajax are 6 points below the table-toppers, Feyenoord. The fans are of the perspective that John Heitinga will bring in fortunes for the next half of the season.
Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal got away with £40m Edson Alvarez in woeful form for Ajax
Meanwhile, Eredivisie expert Mike Bell claimed that Edson Alvarez was in scintillating form in the last season. According to him, the footballer’s form took a huge hit. The expert further added that Alvarez has been “really poor” since the summer.
He made these remarks while speaking to Football Oranje podcast recently. “Edson Alvarez was great last season. Since the summer, he’s been really poor. Ajax may be thinking we could have got £30 or £40 million in the summer. (Now he will be worth) half that, because he’s been terrible,” he added in a statement.
The journey continues 🙏
I’m so proud to have signed another contract with The Arsenal family.
From the moment I joined the staff, my teammates and the supporters have made me feel at home ❤️
I’m excited for what the future holds at this special club 👊

Meanwhile, the resurgent Mikel Arteta’s side pulled off masterstroke moves in the ongoing edition of the English Premier League. The Gunners were clinically good across all aspects of the game, be it pace, pressing, aggression and zest to win games.
Taking Alvarez’s form factor into account, it ain’t that easy to break into the playing XI had he joined Arsenal or any EPL club. Some even feel that Arsenal got away with out-of-form Alvarez as the Gunners tried to get him in the transfer window, as per the reports.
On the other hand, Dutch great Wesley Sneijder said he is not a fan of Alvarez. While speaking to Veronica Inside, he said, “I’m not a fan of Alvarez. The only thing that Edson Alvarez knows how to do is play the ball sidewards or backward. He never passes forward. The truth is that I don’t know how he continues at Ajax because he doesn’t fit with the philosophy. He is not worth the 50 million euros they ask for. If it’s true that Chelsea bid, I would have sent him to London in the blink of an eye”
