Arsenal Transfer News: Newcastle United are one of the two teams in the ongoing Premier League campaign to have lost only three games so far. They are sixth on the points table
The Magpies took the football fraternity by surprise by playing a good brand of football. They underwent a major transition in their quality and overall performances. Rightly so, they are now in a respectable position in the ongoing season. Having played 24 games so far in the competition, they have won 10 games, lost thrice and drew eleven times.
Notably, they have scored a total of 35 goals and conceded 17 goals so far. They have a healthy goal difference of 18 and have piled up 41 points this season. In fact, this is one of their best-ever performance in history. The Magpies proved that they can be sharp and decisive in the clutch moments. Rightly so, they earned the points they wanted.
However, their collective rhythm got disrupted quite a bit in the recent fixture. They were off the target while locking horns with Manchester City and Manchester United. As a result, they lost two Premier League games in a row for the first time this season. Recently, they lost to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final on February 26.
While there is a tad decline in terms of confidence levels, they will look to make a rebound in the next game. Newcastle United will cross swords with Wolves at home on March 12, Sunday. It will be quite interesting to see how the hosts will respond to this game after going through a lean patch of late.
Newcastle United interested to sign £25 million Kieran Tierney
The Magpies are very much interested to sign a highly-rated defender from Arsenal. As per The Northern Echo, Newcastle United want to rope in Kieran Tierney in the upcoming summer transfer window. The report stated that the Gunners’ hierarchy is willing to sell the former Celtic man to Newcastle United for £25 million in the summer of 2023.
Newcastle United would want to make use of this golden opportunity to sign the talented left-back in the summer. In fact, Kieran Tierney has been playing second fiddle to Oleksandr Zinchenko in the ongoing Premier League campaign. The former Manchester City defender played the most minutes in the EPL when compared to Kieran Tierney as the latter struggled for enough match time this season.

Moreover, Kieran Tierney doesn’t want to spend time warming the bench as he wants to get involved in the game. Meanwhile, the report stated that Mikel Arteta’s management will not stand in the way of Tierney if he wants to part ways with the club. However, it seems that the table-toppers will demand £25 million for the left-back.
When Mikel Arteta was asked about reports of Kieran Tierney linking with other clubs, he said, “I don’t know, I’m not thinking about it and I’m thinking about what’s best for the club and clearly and the players with the right to play minutes which they all deserve and we’re going to try to do that in the next couple of games.”
